Monday Moodboard

Hello there, lovelies!

We've had quite a grey and rainy autumn season so far (which is typical for my area I might add), so I've curated a mood board with cheerful colors to brighten the day! I, for one, would love to curl up on the sofa with a cozy blanket and a good book, a steaming mug of cocoa and some cookies right about now. Alas, it's Monday and I have errands to run. 😉

Although I'm sad to see summer go I do appreciate the turning of the leaves and the warm colours that autumn brings. This is reflected in my moodboard today. Hope you like it!

Hello and happy Monday! I've been battling a cold these last couple of days, drinking plenty of tea and eating nourishing soups while trying to keep on top of things work-wise. In between I've been browsing Etsy for Fall inspirations which resulted in today's moodboard. Hope you like it :)

Hallo allerseits und schönen Montag! Die vergangenen Tage ging's mir auf Grund einer Erkältung nicht besonders gut...habe so gut es ging meine Arbeit erledigt, viel Tee getrunken und nahrhafte Suppen gegessen. Und zwischendurch bei Etsy nach herbstlichen Dingen gestöbert. Das Resultat seht Ihr in meiner heutigen Collage. Ich hoffe sie gefällt :)

While going for a stroll in the neighbourhood I came upon these four leaves that struck me as especially pretty because they reflected the autumnal colours so beautifully - maroon, red, orange, yellow. They lay there in that order - perfect :)
As it so happens the challenge of BBArtisans, of which I am a member, is to create one last piece with the beautiful colors of Fall. I opted to create a digital image :) Big thanks to Edi for coming up with November's challenge theme! Neulich, beim Spaziergang in der Nachbarschaft blickte ich hinunter und entdeckte diese vier Blätter, die ich farblich als besonders schön herbstlich empfand. Sie lagen genau in dieser Reihenfolge - dunkelrot, rot, orange, gelb. Perfekt :)

Asian-style Pumpkin Soup

This is the perfect cold weather soup! The spices, such as ginger and curry and the creamy consistency make this a warming and satisfying meal.

Dies ist die perfekte Suppe für kalte Tage! Gewürze, wie Ingwer und Curry und die cremige Konsistenz machen dies zu einer wärmenden und sättigenden Mahlzeit.

How to:

Clean the Hokkaido, cut in half and remove seeds. Chop including skin (yes, it's edible). Chop shallots and grate about an inch of the ginger. Cut chili in half, remove seeds and chop, leaving a few slices for garnish. Pour 3 - 4 tblsp olive oil in a large pan, heat and add all of the above. Stir for a couple of minutes, then add curry powder and stir again. Turn down heat to medium and pour in vegetable broth and coconut milk. Simmer for approx. 30 min or until pumpkin is completely soft and skin has dissolved. Season with salt and fresh ground pepper. Blend until smooth. Ladle into bowls and garnish with cilantro and chili slices. Enjoy!

So wird's gemacht:

Den Hokkaido säubern, zur Hälfte schneiden, entkernen und samt Schale (ja, die kann man essen) in Stücke schneiden. Schalotten würfeln, ca. 1,5 cm Ingwer raspeln. Die Chilischote längs halbieren, Kerne entfernen und klein schneiden, dabei einige Scheibchen für die Deko beiseite legen. Alles zusammen in ca. 3 - 4 EL Olivenöl in einem großen Topf anschwitzen, mit Curry bestäuben und einige Minuten braten, dabei umrühren. Mit Gemüsebrühe und Kokosmilch aufgießen und bei mittlerer Hitze ca. 30 Min. einkochen. Der Kürbis sollte weich und die Schale komplett aufgelöst sein. Mit dem Pürierstab fein pürieren, mit Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken und in Schüsseln verteilen. Suppe mit frischem Koriander und den übrigen Chilischeiben garnieren. Guten Appetit!

Fall Outfit - Sunday brunch

Let's say, just hypothetically, that I got an invitation to Sunday brunch at a swanky hotel (as if). Since it's Fall and pretty cold already, I would opt to wear a smart pair of navy pants, but with an all over print, so as not to be confused with a pair of office pants. I'd top it with a light coloured sweater and some pearls (always elegant) and instead of a regular coat throw on a smart buttoned cape. Heeled ankle boots and an envelope clutch complete the ensemble! Ah well, one can dream...

Sagen wir, nur mal angenommen, ich hätte eine Einladung zum Sonntagsbrunch in einem Tophotel (schön wär's!). Statt eines hübschen Kleides (da für diese Jahreszeit zu kalt) würde ich navyblaue Hosen tragen - aber bitte mit Allover-Druck, damit man diese nicht mit einer typischen Bürohose verwechselt. Dazu würde ich einen hellen Pullover und eine Perlenkette (immer elegant) kombinieren. Und anstelle eines Mantels warum nicht zur Abwechslung ein geknöpftes Cape? Stiefeletten und eine kleine Clutch komplettieren das Ensemble! Wie gut, dass man noch träumen darf ...

Uptown Shopping Tote - Fall

I have mentioned numerous times that I much prefer the summer months, so not particularly looking forward to Fall - except maybe getting to wear my Vintage 70s brown coat - so I had to think really hard to come up with a Fall-inspired item for this month's BBA challenge by wonderful teammate and jewelry designer Linda B.

So I opened the drawer containing my personal stash of fabrics and found this wonderful home decor fabric in cream with a swirly brown pattern that is suitably Fall-like and matches my coat! I had enough of this fabric to create a tall shopping tote based on my uptown bag which I designed three years ago!

Ich habe schon mehrmals erwähnt, dass ich die Sommermonate sehr genieße, und daher nicht besonders freudig dem kommenden Herbst entgegensehe - außer vielleicht, dass ich dann meinen braunen 70er Mantel tragen kann - tja, ausgerechnet "Herbst" ist das Thema der August challenge von meinem Team. Meine Teamkollegin Linda B., die übrigens wunderschönen Schmuck herstellt, hat mich da vor einer echten Herausforderung gestellt!

In so einem Fall dient mein persönlicher Vorrat an Stoffen als Inspiration, und tatsächlich entdeckte ich diesen herrlichen festen Deko-Stoff in Creme mit einem geschwungenen braunen Muster wieder - das passt, dachte ich...zum Herbst und auch zu meinem Mantel! Ich hatte gerade soviel von diesem Stoff übrig, um eine große Shoppertasche daraus zu nähen. Dieses Modell habe ich etwas von meinem ursprünglichen Modell von vor 3 Jahren abgewandelt.

The tote is lined with a cotton canvas in solid brown and stablized with Decovil, an industrial type interfacing often used for fabric belts, hats and interior decorations such as pelmets. This makes the bag nice and sturdy but still flexible. I added a flap with magnetic snap button mainly for decoration, but also to help keep the shopping from falling out.

Die Shoppertasche ist innen mit Baumwollcanvas in dunkelbraun gefüttert und mit Decovil stabilisiert. Decovil wird oft für Stoffgürtel, Hüte und im Heimdeko-Bereich verwendet. Die Tasche wird dadurch sehr stabil, aber nicht steif. Die Patte mit Magnetknopf ist eher dekorativ, dennoch hält sie die Tasche oben zusammen, so dass die Waren beim Abstellen der Tasche nicht gleich herauspurzeln.

The straps are long enough to slip onto the shoulder comfortably and the bag itself has a flat wide bottom to fit in lots and lots of shopping :)

Die Henkel sind lang und breit genug um die Tasche bequem über die Schulter zu tragen und der flache breite Boden sorgt dafür, dass ganz viel Shopping reinpasst :)

I rarely see squirrels around here, so I was quite surprised to spot two when I went for a walk at the weekend. They are funny creatures and a joy to watch! The trees seem to have lost most of their leaves all in one go. Winter is just around the corner and the weather forecast says to expect fresh snow...

Ich bekomme selten Eichhörnchen zu sehen. Ziemlich überrascht war ich, als ich beim Spaziergang am Wochenende gleich zwei entdeckte! Es sind ja wirklich lustige Tierchen! Die Bäume hier haben massiv Blätter verloren. Der Winter naht und es soll angeblich Neuschnee geben...
Mein Spaziergang durch den hiesigen Park inspirierte mich zur heutigen Montags-Collage!

Herbstzeit & Tirol

Hello lovelies!         Hallo, ihr Lieben!

I finally got round to displaying some Fall decorations around the house. I wanted to have those white baby boo pumpkins that are so popular these days - no such luck, they were all sold out beginning of September! So I cheated a little to get the look. I found these inexpensive ceramic ones in a home decorations store. Yay me :)

Endlich ist auch bei uns etwas Herbstdeko eingezogen. Ich wollte dieses Jahr unbedingt die Baby Boos - leider hatte ich wieder einmal kein Glück, also habe ich etwas geschummelt, um den gewünschten Look zu bekommen ;-) Ja, meine preiswerten Kürbisse sind aus Keramik und stammen aus einem Dekoladen!

Herbstzeit means Fall season. In my neck of the woods it also means rain, rain and more rain, wellingtons and windbreaker jackets - no wonder most people, me included, prefer to stay indoors.

Herbstzeit - hier in Westfalen bedeutet das hauptsächlich Regen und noch mehr Regen, Wellingtons (Gummistiefel) und Windjacken. Kein Wunder, dass wir es uns lieber zuhause gemütlich machen.

As mentioned in a previous post we'll be travelling to Tyrol tomorrow to attend a wedding and also have a mini-vacation. I still have to pack my clothes, most importantly my walking boots, as the little family-owned hotel we're staying at is up on a mountain.

Wie zuvor erwähnt fahren wir morgen nach Tirol. Wir sind dort zu einer Hochzeit eingeladen und weil es zeitlich gerade passt machen wir daraus eine Mini-Urlaubswoche. Ich muss noch packen! Vor allem die Wanderschuhe müssen mit, denn das Ferienhotel liegt nämlich im Zillertal.
