Postcard Pouch

To answer your questions in my previous post: Yes indeed! The new sewing machine had been delivered and thank goodness for that! I am getting acquainted with it, and I know we will become best friends :) My bedtime reading consists of the manual and leaflets that came with the machine.
And after my long sewing hiatus I'm oh-so-proud to have finally turned an idea that has been swirling round in my head for ages into this...

Einzelstück, entworfen und in Handarbeit gefertigt / OOAK designed and handmade by me

The lighting is disastrous. It's grey and foggy outside, so these pictures are as good as they get. The pouch is made from pure natural linen. Any irregularities are unique to linen fabric and add to the charm. The twine is stitched on and is part of the overall design. It is fully lined with a delightful rose print.

This is a OOAK piece. Measurements: 8" wide to 9.5" wide at the bottom. 8" tall. 1.5" deep. It retails for approx. USD 33,70 plus shipping. I will be offering it here on my blog to anyone interested first before listing it in my shop in a couple of days.

Black Ornament Zipper Pouch

In the run-up to Christmas sales are picking up in my online shop. Newly listed is this versatile zipper pouch. I teamed the black ornament print with bright pink, and added a useful keyring too! Sorry about the dark photo*. It has been gloomy here for weeks!

*note to self : construct lightbox, and soon!

I have also had my very first non-payer! It's okay, though, because someone else bought the item instead, but what does one do about the feedback? If I don't give any feedback, then this non-sale will sort of 'hang' there. I want it closed. I'm reluctant about giving negative buyer feedback, because it will reflect back on me. Have any of you online sellers ever had this problem? Do you give negative feedback?

Cherry zipper pouch with flower charm

There was enough of Sandi Henderson's cherry fabric left over to make two zipper pouches. One to match my new purse, the other for my shop. This size is just right for my compact, lipstick and mascara - I don't carry a lot of make-up with me when I go out. Both the front and back panel is embellished with a decorative trim in matching colours. If you look at the second image, you will notice a tiny pink flower charm, which I have attached to the zipper pull. You may have noticed that I love adding little details to my bags, be it charms, hearts, colourful trims or bows. Today I sold the last of my sleepmasks. I'll need to go through my fabric stash to find some suitable prints - it seems smaller prints work and sell better than large ones. Guess I'll be staying in and sewing tonight!

Christmas Shopping

Well, I'm glad to say I've finished all of my Christmas Shopping, which is no surprise, because I buy gifts throughout the year. I've written about this in a post on my personal blog, which you may want to read here. But what about unexpected visitors knocking on your door at Christmas time? Or maybe you exchange gifts with your neighbours? You would want to have a little gift ready, just in case! I made up a few zipper pouches in red and tan tartan. I wanted something that had a wintery feel to it, so I chose fine italian wool. I didn't need to buy much of the fabric, since these pouches only measure about 15 x 13 cm or approx. 6 x 5 inches. They are lightly padded and lined with either green or orange checks. For that special touch I appliquéd each one with a different motif, i.e. gingerbread man, heart, angels etc., using scraps of fabric. In the picture below you can see two examples. The red tartan one has a little teddy bear with heart; the tan tartan one has a little birdy.

So now I don't have to worry about being empty-handed!

A few more cute bags...

Cute 'Rosie' baby blue zip pouch is already on its way to sunny California for my friend L. I have similar bags in my shop. Each is individually handsewn and features a variation of patterns and embellishments. Measures approx. 15 cm x 12 cm. The 'Rosy dots' make up bag is a custom order for a close friend. The front pocket is handy for keeping combs and nail files. This bag is pretty & romantic.

Forget-me-not Zip Pouch

This adorable handy little pouch is available in my shop here. It's made of 100% cotton and stabilized with soft interfacing. The lining is a fresh pink/white striped cotton fabric. You can keep anything you want in it - make up, coins, buttons, notions, earrings, ribbons and plenty more! The ribbon on the front reads 'Vergiß mein nicht', which is German for 'forget-me-not' Approx. 15 cm x 12 cm
