Recently one of my ruffle shorts was featured in this Etsy treasury. I never get tired of pink! Today I created my own "pretty in pink" moodboard. Enjoy!

Introducing: Frau Zucker

I'm always excited to see what my customers create with the fabrics they bought from my shoppe.
Christina creates these wonderful and stylish retro bags combining my designer fabrics with brown corduroy for that funky 70s feeling! She goes by the name of Frau Zucker on Dawanda. She offers two bag styles - with or without short handles - that are large enough to hold A4 files without appearing too bulky! Her bags can be worn cross-body style and have interior compartments to keep your essentials organized. A great everyday bag for the office or college!

Ich find es immer spannend zu sehen, was meine lieben Kundinnen aus den Stoffen, die sie bei mir im Lädchen kaufen Feines kreieren! So auch bei den in liebevoller Handarbeit gefertigten Taschen von Christina, die diese unter dem Label Frau Zucker bei Dawanda verkauft. Für die modischen Retro- Taschen kombiniert sie meine Designer Patchworkstoffe mit braunem Cord für das authentische 70s Feeling. Es gibt sie mit oder ohne kurze Henkel; der lange Schultergurt ist verstellbar, so dass sie auch quer getragen werden kann. Für Ordnung sorgt eine offene, zweigeteilte Innentasche und eine gegenüberliegende Reißverschluss-Innentasche. In die großzügige Tasche passen bequem DINA4 Formate - ein perfekter Begleiter für Uni, Büro oder Freizeit!

In the above photo you can see the version with the short straps. I love the pleated detail and that it closes with a zip. By the way, Christina who is a mother of two makes all of her bags and other items when she is not busy working as a props manager at her city's state theater. She says she loves fabrics and never leaves the house without one of her own bags!

Im obigen Foto seht ihr die Version mit Henkel und Reißverschluss! Ich liebe die Details wie die eingenähten Falten und genieteten Gurte und Henkel. Wenn Christina nicht gerade für ihr eigenes Label näht (übrigens ohne je ein Nähkurs besucht zu haben), arbeitet die zweifache Mutter als Requisiteurin am Staatstheater Darmstadt. Sie ist ein Retro-Fan, ist stoffsüchtig ;-), umgibt sich gerne mit Gleichgesinnten und trägt nur noch ihre eigenen Taschen spazieren!

How to make a gift box :: Geschenkbox selbermachen

Continuing the colour scheme of rose pink, mango and butter yellow with touches of green and red, I made some simple pillow boxes for the favors I'm gifting my birthday guests in less than three weeks.

Für die "pillow box" Geschenkboxen habe ich das Farbschema Rosé, Mango und Buttergelb mit etwas Grün und Rot beibehalten.

How to / So wird's gemacht

Material 

cardstock in various colours / Fotokarton, versch. Farben

cream coloured paper / cremefarbenes Papier

scissors / Schere

punch / Stanzer

masking tape & twine / Zwirn

bone folder / Falzbein

glue / Kleber

"Thank you" stamp & ink / "Dankeschön Stempel & Stempelfarbe (optional)

Step 1 / Schritt 1

Download the free pillow box template, either large or small. Mine is the small version.

Print and cut out. Place on cardstock and trace as many as needed.

Cut out the shape along the outer lines. Using the bone folder score along the dotted lines - this will make folding easier. Start by folding in the middle. Glue the flap of top half to the inside of other half. Let dry.

Ausdrucken, ausschneiden und auf Fotokarton übertragen. Entlang der äußeren Linie ausschneiden, dann das Falzbein entlang der gestrichelten Linien ziehen - dies macht das spätere Falten einfacher. Zunächst mittig falten. Dann den Überhang der oberen Hälfte umklappen und mit Kleber an der Innenseite der unteren Hälfte befestigen. Gut trocknen lassen. 

Step 2 / Schritt 2

Next, cut lengths of masking tape to fit the bottom glued edge. Stick down firmly. Cut cream paper into little labels to fit the top center of the boxes. Punch edges with decorative border. Either handwrite or stamp "thank you" in the middle. Set aside.

Als nächstes Stücke vom masking tape abschneiden. Die Länge sollte auf den unteren geklebten Rand passen. Fest andrücken. Dann aus dem cremefarbenen Papier kleine Label schneiden, die Ränder dekorativ ausstanzen und mittig entweder per Hand "Dankeschön" schreiben oder bestempeln. Beiseite legen.

Step 3 / Schritt 3

Now comes the tricky part: folding in the edges! You need to fold them in a crescent shape, one flap over the other. Pinch edges slightly to create desired pillow box shape. Then stick down the labels which you made in the previous step with glue. At this point fill your boxes with the goodies before tying with bakers' twine!

Jetzt ist Fingerfertigkeit gefragt! Die Seitenteile so übereinander klappen, dass sie sichelförmig aussehen. Dabei die Ränder zwischen Zeigefinger und Daumen leicht zusammendrücken. Oben mittig die Labels mit Leim befestigen. Die Geschenkboxen vor dem Zubinden mit Kleinigkeiten füllen!

And your little pillow box is finished! See how easy it was?

Und fertig ist die kleine Geschenkschachtel! Das war doch einfach, oder?

Retro Homespun

Hi everybody!      Hallo ihr Lieben!

I'm visiting my mom in three weeks, and since my brother and his family are flying in I decided to have a little party (as it's also my birthday then)! I love themed parties, so this year I wanted something colourful and cheery - maybe because we are so sun-deprived this summer ;-)

In drei Wochen habe ich Urlaub! Wir fahren zu meiner Mutter, und da mein Bruder und seine Familie aus USA einfliegen gibt's eine kleine Feier (zufällig fällt mein Geburtstag in diesen Zeitraum)! Ich mag gerne Farbthemen für die Deko, Karten etc. und da wir momentan viel zu wenig Sonne haben sollte es natürlich heiter und bunt-fröhlich sein! 

I started on the invitation (Einladung) cards last weekend. The colour combination I chose is unusual: dusty rose, mango and butter yellow with touches of bright green and red! I stamped the cards with a cupcake motif and sewed on a button with twine. The edges are deliberately torn. On the back of the card are the date, time and location. I also added some stitching to the envelopes for that homespun style!

Ich habe schon mal die Einladungskarten gebastelt. Das Farbthema mag etwas ungewöhnlich sein: Rosé, Mango, Buttergelb mit etwas Grün und Rot. Die Karten habe ich mit einem Cupcake bestempelt und einen Knopf mit Zwirn angenäht. Auf der Rückseite stehen das Datum, Uhrzeit und Location. Die Umschläge habe ich mit einem Geradstich verziert - eben Homespun Style!

Meanwhile I received Mollie Makes issue Nr. 16 in my mailbox yesterday. Isn't that cover yummy? Makes me want to make one of those funky bracelets, the one with the peace sign especially!

Unterdessen kam gestern die Mollie Makes Nr. 16 angeflattert. Ist das Cover nicht toll? Ich habe richtig Lust dazu solche funky Armbändchen zu knüpfen, besonders das mit dem Peace Zeichen!

Hello.                     Hallo.

the week has only just begun and I'm already tired out. Today too many things happened at once and all of them needed my attention. I'll let you in on a secret ~ I'm not a very good multitasker. I much prefer doing things one after the other, but alas it wasn't to be today...

Mädels, heute war nicht mein Tag. Irgendwie kam alles auf einmal und alles musste jetzt und gleich erledigt werden. Puh, die Woche hat gerade erst angefangen und ich bin schon erledigt!

I'm going to show you a couple of things that I found at craft and fleamarkets, and that always help to cheer me up! Many moons ago my favourite teacher gave me a knitting dolly. Who remembers these? Mine was blue with a red hat and I loved it! I spent hours knitting the wool into long strings, and I do believe that all of my family received coasters that Christmas! So when I spotted this knitting dolly I knew I had to have it for the sake of nostalgia. I do plan on using it when I have the time...

Kennt ihr noch die Strickliesel? Meine Lehrerin hatte mir damals (da war ich acht) so eine geschenkt. Die war blau mit einem roten Hut. Ich habe sie über alles geliebt und konnte stundenlang damit diese "Wollwürstchen" stricken. Ihr wisst schon was ich meine, oder?
Wenn ich mich recht erinnere haben meine Familienmitglieder das Jahr zu Weihnachten alle spiralenförmig zusammengenähte Untersetzer bekommen... ;-) Ich habe keine Ahnung wo meine Strickliesel geblieben ist, aber eins wußte ich als ich neulich diese hier entdeckte - die muß ich haben. Und ja, wenn ich mal viel Zeit habe werde ich es nochmal ausprobieren...

Cleaning my chest of drawers the other day I found these half forgotten Vintage hankies! These are destined for a craft project!

Beim Aufräumen meiner Schubfächer habe ich diese wunderschönen Vintage Taschentücher wiederentdeckt! Diese sind für mein nächstes DIY Projekt bestimmt!

I hope these pictures brought about a smile or a nice memory from your childhood. I feel better already just looking at my "Strickliesel" ! But before I can even think about trying it out I must head to the kitchen to cook dinner. Will this day never end?! Hope your Monday was less stressful.

Und wie gefallen euch die Dinge? Vielleicht haben ja die Fotos die eine oder andere schöne Kindheitserinnerung geweckt. Auf jeden Fall hoffe ich, dass euer Montag weniger hektisch war wie meiner. Und der Tag scheint kein Ende zu nehmen, denn jetzt muss ich in Richtung Küche das Abendessen zaubern :)
