New for Spring 2014

It's here! I'm talking about this sweet floral fabric collection I wrote about in January :) As with all new fabric I was a bit afraid to cut into it, but eventually I did and here's what I made...

Make "laundry day" more fun by storing your pegs (clothes pins) in these cute peg bags I recently designed. They are fully lined and have a ruffle trim and a little shabby chic bow tied around the wooden hanger.

Diese Wäscheklammerbeutel habe ich neulich entworfen, damit in Zukunft "Waschtag" ein wenig bunter und fröhlicher wird! Die Beutel sind gefüttert und haben ringsherum eine Rüsche im Shabby Stil.

After you've done the laundry you deserve to relax with a cup of coffee and a good book :)

Nachdem die Wäsche erledigt ist gönnt man (frau) sich eine Auszeit mit einer Tasse Kaffee und einem guten Buch :)

It's been ages since I posted anything I made! Truth be told my fabric shoppe is keeping me so busy these days that I hardly ever get to the sewing machine. There are a number of unfinished projects that I hope to complete in the coming weeks. Anyway, here are a few items I've made so far. In case you're wondering, all my items for my label Peridot are designed and handmade by me.

Ich habe schon ewig nicht über meine handgemachten Sachen gepostet! Um ehrlich zu sein - mein Stofflädchen hält mich ganz schön auf Trab, so dass ich eher selten zum Nähen komme, obwohl da ein Stapel unfertiger Projekte liegt. Aber heute zeige ich Euch endlich einige Sachen, die ich für mein Label Peridot genäht habe. Alle Entwürfe stammen von mir :)

Fresh Laundry (bags)

There is something about the smell of freshly laundered clothes that I love. I always associate it with my mom and growing up in a safe environment. It also inspired me to introduce laundry bags into my Peridot line a while back. Did you know I use them to store my folded sheets and pillow cases? They look so pretty in the cupboard! Anyway, I had a specific look in mind. I knew I wanted to combine vintage floral prints with polka dots and stripes. The nostalgic Barefoot Roses fabrics exude warmth and romance and are simply perfect for my collection.

Ich mag den Duft von frischer Wäsche, besonders wenn sie draußen in der Sonne trocknen durfte. Dieser ganz besondere Duft erinnert mich immer an meine Mutter und meine behütete Kindheit :) Er inspirierte mich auch Wäschebeutel in meine Peridot Linie aufzunehmen. Darin lassen sich übrigens hervorragend zusammengelegte Bettwäsche und Kissenbezüge aufbewahren. Zudem sieht alles sehr hübsch und ordentlich im Wäscheschrank aus! Für meine Beutel schwebte mir ein bestimmter Look vor. Es sollten florale Vintage Muster kombiniert mit Püncktchen und Streifen sein. Die nostalgischen Barefoot Roses Rosendrucke lassen mein Herz höher schlagen und sind perfekt für meine Kollektion.

Pretty Pink Gingham

Hi everybody!        Hallo Mädels!

Well, looks like I'm not going to get my sewing machine back in a while. Apparently the spare part that the repair shop is waiting for needs to be imported from Thailand. I am suffering sewing withdrawal! So...I've made an executive decision and purchased a new one :)

Meine Nähmaschine ist immer noch in der Werkstatt. So wie's aussieht warten die auf ein Ersatzteil, dass aus Thailand importiert werden muß. Das kann ja noch Wochen dauern. Also, mir reicht's. Nach einer ausführlichen Beratung habe ich gestern eine neue Maschine bestellt. Nächste Woche wird sie geliefert. *freu*

Freuen tue ich mich auch über meine neuen LeserInnen Christinchen, Fräulein Vintage und Carli. Schön, dass ihr zu mir gefunden habt. Nice to meet you ladies!

Fun Laundry Bags!

As mentioned I was going to stock up on some more laundry bags, because 1. I only had three left and 2. it seems to be a popular search term on Google and Etsy! Plus, they are so much fun to make!
Wie versprochen habe ich neue Wäschebeutel für meinen Shop genäht, denn 1. hatte ich nur noch drei übrig und 2. wird dieser Begriff auf Englisch sehr gern in der Google Suchmaschine sowie auf Etsy eingegeben! Es macht total Spaß diese zu nähen und sie sind eine willkommene Abwechslung zu meinen anspruchsvolleren Teilen! 

Of course there are plenty of other uses for these bags ~ as one customer wrote ~ she stores her kids' stuffed toy animals in them. What a cool idea!
Diese Beutel sind natürlich nicht nur für "dreckige Wäsche" gedacht ~ wie eine Kundin mir neulich mitteilte  benutzt sie sie als Aufbewahrungsbeutel für die Kuscheltiersammlung ihrer Kinder. Nette Idee, oder? 

Etsy Germany is going live in a couple of weeks. I'm working on translating all my item descriptions right now. I'm excited for this development and hopefully more German-speaking customers will find me :)
Etsy gibt es bald auch auf Deutsch! Ich arbeite schon fleißig an meiner Shop Übersetzung. Ich finde diese Entwicklung ganz spannend und hoffe dadurch meinen Bekanntheitsgrad (besser gesagt, der meiner Produkte) in deutschsprachigen Ländern zu erhöhen. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ihr mich dann besuchen kommt :)))

Bright and fresh Laundry Bags!

I made these new laundry bags from the last bits of designer fabrics I had left. I was so happy that I had enough for two! The polkadots and floral prints are so bright and cheery and each has a contrasting drawstring. See them up close here and here.
I know it's unbelievable, but I haven't received any of the new fabrics I orderd from USA yet. I have a sinking feeling they might have been shipped by sea mail?! I'm trying not to despair by keeping myself busy preparing for tomorrow's trip to Cologne (trade fair). It's supposed to be huge with about 250 exhibitors from 25 nations. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to take pics in there, but I will bring along my camera anyway.
I have made a list with exhibitors I want to visit with the top three I must absolutely visit, and if I'm lucky I will receive a contract from at least one of them by the end of the day. Let's face it - in the long run, in order for my business to survive, I need to get my supplies and fabrics wholesale from a dealer over here.

My shop is growing.

In addition to pj's, cosmetic pouches and sleepmasks I now offer large laundry bags as well! As with all my items they are made from designer cottons and have a myriad of uses - not only for dumping your dirty laundry. Think craft bag, fabric scrap bag, balls of wool bag; or like me keep your socks and lingerie stored in it!

The laundry bag with the heart appliquéd on it was recently included in this gorgeous blue collection made by enamel jewelry artist MapremIsha. It is called 'crazy about blue' :)

I figured out how to renew an item. Question to Etsians: does a renewed item show up in the specified category at all? Coz it seems like I'm not getting any new views on it, like I did when I originally listed it.
Just wondering...

And in case you haven't noticed by now, I am really taken with Etsy :) I should've started my shop there much sooner!
