Life Lately

The year is rapidly coming to a close. Where did the last twelve months go? Honestly, I feel that (for me, at least) this past year has been one endless rollercoaster ride, so I'm really hoping for a more balanced 2015! Meanwhile, here's what's been happening behind the scenes (mostly mobile phone pictures):

Das Jahr neigt sich rasch dem Ende zu. Wo ist die Zeit nur geblieben? Ehrlich gesagt war dieses Jahr (für mich zumindest) eine endlose Achterbahnfahrt, und ich hoffe, dass sich das im neuen Jahr nicht fortsetzt! Hier ein paar Einblicke hinter den Kulissen (fast alle Bilder mit Handy aufgenommen):

Every year around this time I compile a list of handmade goodies. Personally I love giving handmade gifts - either made by me or bought from the many small handmade businesses found on Etsy, Dawanda and similar sites. Perhaps this will inspire my readers to choose handmade over mass produced this year :) A word of caution though - due to recent and not so recent policy changes, both Etsy and Dawanda have been swamped with cheap factory-made goods. If you decide to buy off of these sites, please be discerning and read the description carefully, thank you.

Jedes Jahr um diese Jahreszeit zeige ich meine Handmade Favoritenliste. Ich verschenke nämlich sehr gerne handgefertigte Dinge - von mir selbst gemacht oder solche, die ich bei Etsy oder Dawanda finde. Schenkt Ihr auch "Handmade" dieses Jahr? Wenn ja, dann Vorsicht! Änderungen in den AGBs der beiden Webseiten haben leider dazu geführt, dass dort nun seitenweise Billigprodukte zu finden sind!! Da sollte man (frau) genau hinschauen - schon die Beschreibung verrät viel - bevor man irrtümlich ein Massenprodukt kauft. Danke.

Happy Shopping!

Floral & Mint

This month has been super busy! What with the studio renovation, a whirlwind visit to my mom plus unpacking, labelling and uploading beautiful new fabrics to my fabric shoppe. On top of that I made some handmade items as gifts (you know I love gifting handmade).

Diesen Monat war ich ganz schön fleißig! Zwischen Studio renovieren und wunderschöne neue Stoffkollektionen auspacken und im Stofflädchen einstellen, habe ich es trotzdem noch geschafft diese Handmade Geschenke zu fertigen. Ich verschenke einfach zu gern Handmade :)

I designed this envelope clutch and chose a romantic floral fabric from J. Paganelli in soft mint green. Details include a pretty lace embellishment on the flap as well as a handrolled shabby chic flower using the same technique as I explained here.

Diese Clutch (Eigenentwurf) habe ich aus einem romantisch geblümten Stoff in pastelligem Mint von der US Designerin J. Paganelli gefertigt und mit mintfarbener Spitze verziert. Außerdem ziert eine handgerollte Stoffblume die vordere Patte. Wie das geht zeigte ich bereits hier.

...and while I had the beadbox out I made a pair of hot pink rose earrings pour moi

as a little reward for all the hard work this month :)

...und zum guten Schluß (wo ich schon die Kiste mit den Perlen draußen hatte) habe ich diese pinken Rosenohrringe gefertigt...als kleine Belohnung für mich :)

Santa's workshop :)

Hi there!

I hope my US friends enjoyed Thanksgiving and you are not feeling too stuffed ;-)
Guess what? Only 29 days till Christmas (or 28 in our case, since we celebrate on Christmas Eve). I'll be spending the holidays with my mom.
My tiny home office currently resembles Santa's workshop as I'm putting the finishing touches on gifts and writing the last of the cards. As every year I like to get this done early, so that come December I can sit back and relax while watching everyone else frantically rushing from one shop to the next! I tell you, it's a great feeling crossing that off my to-do list ahead of time.

nur noch 28 Tage bis Weihnachten! Dieses Jahr verbringe ich die Feiertage bei meiner Mutter, und werde auch schon eine gute Woche vorher fahren. Bei mir sieht's momentan aus wie "Santa's Workshop" :) Bin aber total froh, dass alle Geschenke bereits verpackt, beschriftet und teilweise nach Übersee versandt worden sind. Also ich kann mich im kommenden Monat bis zu meiner Abreise entspannen. Alles erledigt! Und ihr?!
