Star pillow + Sale

Hi everybody!         Hallo Mädels!

I'm quite fond of looking at beautiful spreads in interior magazines. I particularly like and draw inspiration from the laid back New England style with its crisp whites mixed with blues and reds and star motifs! I sometimes implement a few ideas in our own home (or try to). When I received a bolt of this terrific STAR fabric in navy/cream I immediately set to work and made a pillow for the couch. Of course it wouldn't be my own if I didn't add some bright detail - in this case fuchsia pink piping!

Ich schaue mir immer gerne die Interieurs und das Styling in Wohnzeitschriften an; insbesondere gefällt mir der lässige New England Stil mit viel Weiß, Blau und Rot sowie Sternenmotive! Manche Ideen setze ich bei uns im kleinen Rahmen um. Versuche ich zumindest. Der obige STERNENstoff in Navy/Creme passt hervorragend zu diesem klassischen, amerikanischen Stil. Das Kissen war schnell genäht. Als Farbtupfer habe ich eine fuchsienfarbige Paspel mit eingenäht!

In Fall I wear a lot of neutrals combined with a pop of colour. Here's my favourite navy/pink combination. Yes, I wear a lot of cardigans, mostly preppy ;-)

Im Herbst trage ich meistens neutrale Farben kombiniert mit einer fröhlichen Farbe. Navy/Pink habe ich auch im Kleiderschrank ;-)

Sammy doesn't seem very impressed by the couch update...

...preferring to lay on top of the backseat cushion as usual.

As most of you know I adore handmade things, be it jewelry, clothing, home decor or paper crafts. There is a wonderful unique quality to handmade items that chainstores cannot match! I've long forgone the need to purchase branded goods - I much prefer expressing an individual style that can only be achieved by choosing distinctive one-of-a-kind or limited edition items.

Einige von Euch wissen, dass ich Handmade liebe! Ob Schmuck, Bekleidung, Wohndeko oder handgefertigte Karten u. andere Papierartikel - Handmade hat eine unverwechselbare, unnachahmliche  Eigenschaft, die jedes Teil zu etwas ganz Besonderem macht.

I was so excited to receive a package from my friend Edi a couple of days ago. Inside were my custom  magnets with the wording "love" engraved on them (see above). Aren't they pretty? So much nicer than the standard ones that come with the magnet board!

Vor ein paar Tagen ist ein Päckchen von der lieben Edi eingetroffen. Darin befanden sich meine Magnete aus pinklackiertem Holz mit dem Wort "love" eingraviert (siehe oben). Wer sie noch nicht kennt- Edi hat vor einigen Monaten ihren Tagesjob an den Nagel gehängt und betreibt nun erfolgreich ihren Etsy Shop wo sie personalisierte sowie customized Geschenkartikel anbietet.

Apple Season!

I picked up some apples from the farmer's market intending to bake a cake, but then I forgot the eggs so instead I cooked them and made apple-ginger spread (jelly). So yummy for breakfast or on pancakes!

Am Wochenende habe ich Äpfel vom Markt besorgt; sie haben ja jetzt Saison. Eigentlich hatte ich vor einen Kuchen zu backen, aber ich hatte die Eier vergessen...tsk, tsk. Dafür gab's dann Apfel-Ingwer Aufstrich :)

Making this is super easy! You need about 8 - 10 apples (not too tart) to fill four canning jars. Peel and chop the apples, mix with juice of one lime and place in a medium-sized pot. Add grated ginger (1 inch piece) and cook for 15 minutes until apples soften. Remove from stove and blend until smooth. Place back on stove, add 500 gr. canning sugar, mix well and bring to boil. Add a little water if necessary. Boil for 2-3 minutes. Then pour into clean canning jars, screw on lids and turn jars upside down. Cool completely - Once opened eat within a week.

Dieser Apfel-Aufstrich ist super einfach zu machen! 8 - 10 Äpfel (nicht zu säuerlich) schälen und kleinschneiden. In einen Topf mit dem Saft einer Limette geben. Etwas geriebenen Ingwer (1,5 cm Stück) zugeben und ca. 15 Minuten köcheln, bis die Äpfel weich sind. Dann von der Kochstelle nehmen und fein pürieren. Topf wieder auf die Kochplatte stellen, 500gr. Gelierzucker zugeben, gut vermengen und aufkochen. Ca. 2-3 Minuten sprudelnd kochen lassen. Dann ich vier saubere Einmachgläser geben, Deckel drauf, auf den Kopf stellen und abkühlen lassen - Nach dem Öffnen innerhalb einer Woche verzehren.

The jars looked a bit plain to me (plus I was itching to use my alphabet stamp set), so I simply adhered two tags, a larger one made from kraft paper and a smaller one in white with handstamped lettering. Also I stuck some fun washi tape all around the jar. Such an easy way to dress up a simple canning jar - ready for gift giving!

Als Bastlerin mussten die Gläser natürlich aufgehübscht werden, und zwar auf möglichst schnelle und einfache Art! Aus braunem Kraftpapier habe ich Tags ausgestanzt, aus weißem Papier etwas kleinere, die ich dann mit roter Stempelfarbe bestempelt habe. Dann habe ich das Glas noch mit einem witzigem Washi Tape beklebt und fertig - auch als Gastgeber-Geschenk geeignet!
