Rainy Day Outfit

It seems the rain that we usually have in April over here has decided to make a late appearance! My jacket of choice on rainy days is my practical green waterproof parka similar to the one shown below. It's got a hood as well as plently of pockets inside and out, which I love! I usually combine it with something bright and cheerful...a colourful scarf, cheery tote and I wouldn't mind owning a pair of pink rainboots like the ones below :)
How about you? Do you wear special waterproof clothing on rainy days or are you one of those people who make a mad dash to your car with a newspaper over your head?

Monday Moodboard

I had planned to visit my Mom over the Easter holiday, but sadly had to cancel my flight due to the unforeseen circumstances relating to my work. I had hoped that I might make it over there for Mother's Day (11th May) but I had no luck getting a reasonably priced seat at such short notice. However, I managed to secure a flight at a later date, and I am so looking forward to that week-long break and plan to have a really fun time with my Mom :)
Anyway, since it's Monday...here's my Mother's Day moodboard (in my Mom's favourite colour) for you. Enjoy!

The Garden Party Dress

Hi everybody!               Hallo Mädels!

I made this floral 50s inspired dress a long time ago, but never got the opportunity to post about it, because the weather was too cold/too stormy/too rainy. The other day was perfect though and I quickly put on the dress and snapped a few shots. See? I'm jumping for joy as the temps have finally warmed up :)

Both the dress pattern and the fabric are from amazingly talented Jennifer of SisBoom fame. Jennifer has a way of reviving the old and adding a happy, modern spin. I also adore the blend of vivid colours that she uses in her designs, influenced by her childhood spent in the Caribbean.
Oh, and here's the scoop on that gorgeous hot pink cardigan - I'm a big fan of cardigans and own quite a few of them (I have more cardigans than shoes). I especially like the ones offered by UK company Boden, as they come in different lengths and they always have a great selection of colours to choose from. Anyway, I follow them on Twitter and some weeks ago they hosted a giveaway...and I won! I even got to choose which colour - pink, naturally :)

The dress pattern is versatile as you can choose various necklines and skirt lengths. The sash belt is optional, but I like it! I chose a regular round neck and above-the-knee length. My skirt is extra poufy as I'm wearing a petticoat underneath! The perfect garden party dress...don't you agree?
