Goat's Cheese & Apple Tart [Starter]

With the festive season approaching many of us will be hosting dinners and thinking of what to serve family and friends. Some of you might be interested in an alternative to traditional fare, so I thought I'd share a three-course-meal starting with this goat cheese tart.

This tart serves 4 small portions.
Start by making a basic pie dough. See this recipe from yummly. Instead of the shortening I increase the butter (may not be necessary).
Preheat oven to 200°C. Butter a small, flat pie or quiche baking tin. Roll out dough thinly and line the tin, pressing down and up the edges. Spread a thin layer of red currant jelly on the bottom. Peel and chop apples, chop 40 gr walnuts and mix with apples. Crumble organic goat's cheese (200 gr) and mix in with apples. Add a generous pinch of salt and ground black pepper. Fill this mixture evenly into the pie crust and place on middle shelf in the oven to bake for approx. 20 - 25 min or until edges turn golden brown.
Serve with a ruccola salad that has been lightly tossed in French dressing. Top the salad with pomegranate seeds for that extra bit of crunch.

Enjoy!
Guten Appetit!

*side note. You should be able to find a pomegranate at your local super market - my art prints below show the whole fruit and cut open into segments :)

*Randbemerkung.

In the next post I'll share the recipe for the main course.
