Sometimes it's nice to go on a day trip to another town. We decided to visit the charming Winterswijk located in our neighbouring country, The Netherlands. How convenient for us that it's only a half hour drive away :)
Hin- und wieder gönnen wir uns einen Tagesausflug in eine andere Stadt; diesmal sollte es das kleine verschlafene Städtchen Winterswijk in Holland sein. Wie gut, dass wir nur eine halbe Stunde Autofahrt entfernt wohnen :)

Unfortunately the weather was less than pleasant. It got rather windy and started to rain, so we proceeded to this quaint little café hidden in one of the many charming alleyways. Koffiehuis de Koets is family-owned and a welcoming oasis when it's dreary outside. They still operate an old-fashioned till and offer a wide selection of teas and coffees along with homemade cake. What's most unique about this café is that it's filled up to the rafters with pottery and tableware! And not just any, they have all the lifestyle brands like Pip Studio and Green Gate as well as some from local manufacturers. It's all very pretty to look at! Across the road they operate a store that has many more lovely home decorations, bathroom accessories, kitchenwear...I could go on.
Leider hatten wir kein Glück mit dem Wetter. Als es anfing zu stürmen und dann noch die ersten dicken Regentropfen fielen machten wir es uns im heimeligen Koffehuis de Koets gemütlich. Dieses Café liegt etwas abseits des Markttrubels in einer Seitenstrasse. Es ist recht klein, mit urtümlicher Kasse, altem Tresen und beherbergt bis unter die Decke allerlei Geschirr und Keramik von den bekannten Marken wie Pip Studio und Green Gate bis zu weniger bekannten, aber dennoch sehr hübscher Töpferware aus Holland. Da geht einem (oder besser gesagt mir) das Herz auf !

Of course I couldn't resist buying something from their store. These two bowls were calling out to me to take them home. I mean, polka dots
and buttons? How could I resist? As for the pink nostalgic rose box...well, I obviously need that for storing my sewing supplies!
Diese zwei süßen Schüsselchen musste ich einfach haben. Püncktchen und Knöpfe? Da konnte ich nicht widerstehen! Und die mit nostalgischen Rosen verzierte Dose? Na, die musste natürlich auch mit! Wo sonst soll ich meine Kurzwaren aufbewahren?!
