Satin Evening Clutch

Way back in January I wrote about the satin fabrics I bought. Satin is a delicate fabric and needs to be handled with care. When sewing, adjust the pressure foot to 'light', so that you don't leave 'skid marks' on the shiny fabric. Also, use a Microtex needle to avoid unsightly holes where the needle punctures the fabric. Satin may be gently ironed from the left side on the silk setting of your iron. I finally had the opportunity to use the burgundy satin. I made this evening clutch for a girlfriend of mine. Working out the correct size of the bow was a little tricky, but I think the end-result looks pretty good! It's feminine yet simple and works best with evening wear. I'm contemplating making this clutch in emerald green and pink too!

  1. Duni, it's GORGEOUS!!! I'm looking for something similar to this for a wedding I'm going to next weekend and not having ANY luck here in the states!! :( I may just end up carrying one I already have, although it's patent leather and I just don't like it anymore. Oh well--function over fashion, I guess. :)

    Hope you are well!
    Hugs,
    Abby

  5. Thank you for your sweet comment--on BOTH blogs!! Rest assured, I'm finally starting to feel better. The iron tablets were NOT recommended, although a friend said something about them a few days ago, and got me and hubby thinking they might not be a bad idea at all!! But I am starting to feel much better--but I'll still be taking it easy! Never fear! And as for my post about you, well, you saw the stuff you sent! It was very much deserved!! And the least I could do.
    Hope you are well!!

  12. Hi Duni,
The evening clutch looks very elegant. Yes, satin green, burgandy, and pink would be awesome also.

I've learned something from you today--about the microtex needle.

Have a great day or night,

  21. I love it, love it, LOVE IT!! This clutch is absolutelydelish...and I'm so jealous of your friend!

Thanks for the tips of how to sew with satin - I'm just getting into the sewing thing, so this helps a lot. I've got some satin I'd like to sew - but I've got to quit sewing chipboard, transparencies and plastic in general. I haven't done anything with my fabric stash yet! (Oops!)

I also love the pen Kat sent you - I can see why you were so excited. :) It's beautiful - and you totally deserve it@

Take care, Miss Duni - talk soon. :) xx
