Hi everybody! Hallo, ihr Lieben!
I've been pretty much working non-stop on my big project and it's coming together nicely if I may say so myself! I'm on tight schedule which means I haven't been able to do my usual blog round. I will have to catch up this weekend! Meanwhile I wanted to share the last day trip of the year. Some readers might remember that at the beginning of this year I had made plans to explore the state I live in. I'm happy to report that I have been up north, all the way to the east and in this post I'm taking you to a city in the south. (I live in the west).

In den vergangenen Tagen habe ich rund um die Uhr an meinem großen Projekt gearbeitet und ich finde es nimmt schon Form an! Da ich unter Zeitdruck stehe hatte ich leider keine Zeit meine übliche Blogrunde zu machen. Das hole ich aber am Wochenende nach - versprochen! Heute möchte ich die voraussichtlich letzte Tagesreise des Jahres hier festhalten. Die Reise geht diesmal in das südliche NRW, nach Aachen.
Aachen is well-known for its hot springs. People all over the country come here for the thermal baths. It was exceptionally chilly and windy on this day - I wish I could have taken a dip in the baths myself! I wasn't able to take any proper photos of the famous Aachener Dom (cathedral) due to restorations going on. There was ugly scaffolding on half of it. I did enjoy the pops of color everywhere, though!

Aachen ist ja mit seinen mineral- und schwefelhaltigen Thermen als Wellness Oase bekannt. Ehrlich gesagt hätte ich ein solches Bad gut vertragen können an diesem doch sehr kalten und windigen Tag! Leider konnte ich vom Dom keine schönen Bilder machen, da momentan anscheinend längerfristige Renovierungsarbeiten im Gange sind...das Gerüst wollte ich dann doch nicht auf einem Bild festhalten. Erfeut haben mich die vielen bunten Tupfer zwischen dem Backstein und Grau.
If you're ever in Aachen I recommend the Café Middelberg which offers a fine selection of coffees and teas and delectable cakes. I only managed a petit fours, because I was still rather full from lunch!

In Aachen empfehle ich das Café Middelberg. Dort gibt es köstlichen Kuchen, Torten, Pralinen und verschiedene Kaffee- und Teesorten. Dieses leckere dunkle Petit Fours habe ich mir gegönnt :)
I enjoyed visiting the Couven Museum (building below). I didn't take any photos inside, but you can seen what it looks like in this video.
