Pizza made from scratch

Raise your hands if you love pizza :)

Here's a quick and easy recipe perfect for busy people. It's healthy too! Homemade pizza tastes so much better than the frozen variety plus you get to choose your favorite toppings. Why not try my veggie version?

Ingredients

Pizza base: 250 gr wholewheat flour, 100 gr spelt flour, 1 sachet active dry yeast, 200 ml warm water, 1 tbsp olive oil
Topping: zucchini, vine-ripened tomatoes, canned artichoke hearts, 1 tbsp tomato paste, olive oil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, cheddar cheese, fresh basil

Zutaten

Pizzaboden: 250 gr Vollkornmehl, 100 gr Dinkelmehl, 1 tüte Trockenhefe, 200 ml warmes Wasser, 1 EL Olivenöl
Belag: Zucchini, Strauchtomaten, Artischockenherzen, 1 EL Tomatenmark, Olivenöl, getrockneter Oregano, Salz, Pfeffer, Cheddar, frischer Basilikum

In a bowl sieve both flour types and stir in dry yeast. Make a well in the center and pour in warm water and olive oil. Mix until all ingredients are combined. Transfer dough onto floured surface and knead until a smooth, non-sticky dough is formed. Place into clean bowl, cover with cloth and leave to rise for about 20 min. It doesn't rise all that much with dry yeast.

In eine Schüssel beide Mehlsorten sieben. Hefe untermischen.

Meanwhile, cut zucchini in thin slices, chop tomatoes and clear the juice, drain artichoke hearts and chop roughly. Set aside. Preheat oven to 428°F and place a non-stick baking paper on a tray.
Roll out dough approximately to the size of baking tray. It's okay if it's not a perfect rectangle. Mine was more of an oval shape. Use fork to prick the dough a few times. Mix tomato paste with olive oil and spread on the base. Add zucchini slices and chopped tomatoes. Season with a little salt and dried oregano. Top with artichokes, fresh gound black pepper and grated cheese. Bake in oven for 15 - 20 min. or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.

Serve immediately topped with fresh basil. Enjoy!

Mit frischem Basilikum garnieren und sofort servieren. Guten Appetit!

  1. Guten Morgen, liebste Duni,

  4. OMG - that looks so delicious - definitely keeping this recipe to try soon! One of my son's is a Vegetarian, the other is a Vegan. Will have to change the flour, but they will love zucchini and artichokes!

  5. Yummy! These are some of our favorite pizza toppings! I recently started using my bread machine to make pizza dough and love how perfect it comes out. I worry making breads completely by hand in that the temperature, humidity, yeast, etc may not be right. :)

  10. oh that looks absolutely delicious! I used to make homemade pizza with the girls when they were younger (they loved to get their hands in there and make their own). But it has been a few years since I have ... I think I just might need to remember to make my own!

  14. I really like pizza, but commercially made pizza almost always has mystery ingredients that don't agree with me. (I think it's usually fillers in cheese and low quality oils. Both make my stomach unhappy, but when I eat real cheese, tomato sauce, and homemade bread I'm absolutely fine!) Your recipe is quite tasty looking and already saved to my Pinterest queue!
