Advent, Advent... { 5 Minute DIY }

Hi everybody!        Hallo, ihr Lieben!

Okay, this post isn't supposed to make you feel anxious or anything. Just a gentle reminder that the first advent happens to be end of this month, yes this month ;-)
Of course there are plenty of traditional advent wreaths available, but for a crafty and non-traditional person like me I like to make my own unique version! What I like about this project is that you'll probably find many of the materials in your house already! I like easy projects with quick results.

Vielleicht mag dieses weihnachtliche Bastelprojekt dem einem oder anderen zu früh vorkommen, aber tatsächlich ist der erste Advent schon Ende diesen Monats! Traditionelle Kränze gibt es ja bereits zu kaufen, aber für nicht-traditionelle Menschen wie mich sind selbstgemachte einfach schöner und individueller :) Das Gute an diesem Projekt - das Material habt Ihr sicherlich schon zuhause! Ich mag einfache DIY Ideen.

This Christmas I've decided on a rustic/shabby chic theme

Dieses Weihnachten dekoriere ich im rustikalen/shabby chic Look

You'll need | Ihr benötigt

4 clean jam jars | 4 saubere Marmeladengläser

white mini pompom trim | weiße Minipompomborte

jute twine | Jutekordel

4 wooden buttons with large holes | 4 Holzknöpfe mit großen Löchern

numbered tags | nummerierte Anhänger

4 white pillar candles | 4 weiße Stumpenkerzen

rectangular cake platter | rechteckige Kuchenplatte

1. you can make the numbered tags yourself or you can get them at craft stores
2. wrap a length of minipompom trim around the top of the jam jar twice. Tuck in the ends.
3. wrap a piece of jute twine around the top and secure with a knot. 
4. thread the ends of the twine through the button holes and tie a bow. Fix the tag to the button

Repeat for remaining three jars. All that's left to do is place a candle in them and arrange on the cake platter. Easy, right?

1. the nummerierten Anhänger selbst machen oder im Bastelladen kaufen
2. ein Stück Minipompomborte zwei Mal um die obere Kante des Marmeladenglases wickeln, die Enden darunter einstecken.
3. Jutekordel drumwickeln und verknoten.
4. Enden durch die Knopflöcher ziehen und Schleife binden. Anhänger um den Knopf binden

Schritte 1 - 4 dreimal wiederholen. Nun die Kerzen in die Gläser stellen und auf der Kuchenplatte arrangieren. Wie gesagt, einfach und schnell :)

And just like that it's November. My dear readers from the US are probably gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday. I know it's a big day at my brother's place, well maybe not this year because he and his family just moved into a new house in Washington D.C. a couple of days ago, so he'll be busy unpacking and settling in... Anyhow, I really love this holiday - obviously not because of the turkey (I'm a vegetarian), but for having the entire family gathered in one place. And if family is too far away Friendsgiving is a wonderful alternative! Of course there is always something to be thankful for each and every day, but I still like the idea of having a special day to express gratitude with friends and family :)

Und schon ist es November und bald auch "Thanksgiving", welches wir hier in Deutschland als Erntedankfest kennen (war bereits am 4. Oktober) jedoch nicht als offiziellen Feiertag. In USA ist der vierte Donnerstag im November ein großer Familienfesttag, so auch bei meinem Bruder der dort mit Familie lebt. Wer keine Familie in der Nähe hat feiert alternativ Friendsgiving, eine wirklich nette Idee wie ich finde! Was mir daran gefällt ist das gesellige Beisammensein (weniger der Truthahn, denn ich bin ja Vegetarierin). Natürlich gibt es jeden Tag etwas für das ich dankbar bin, aber es ist einfach schön das auch mal in netter Runde auszudrücken :)

Die Versandkosten für bis zu 2 Meter Stoff betragen nur €3,90. Das ist doch angemessen, wenn man bedenkt was man alles aus ganze zwei Meter Stoff zaubern kann!

The above shows a small selection of fabrics on sale, so do check out my entire SALE section. As always, I ship internationally! Speaking of which, I've had several inquiries as to international shipping costs. Let me clarify: I can ship upto 2 meters (2.18 yards) of fabric in a padded envelope for €3,90 (USD 4,26). That's pretty reasonable considering you can sew A LOT with those two meters!

Dem Wunsch nach einer kleineren Verkaufseinheit bin ich nachgekommen und stelle nach und nach das gesamte Sortiment um. Das schaffe ich zwar nicht von heute auf morgen, aber Ihr könnt dies auch gerne im Bestellvorgang mit angeben und ich ändere die Anzahl dann manuell entsprechend ab! Many of my customers prefer sewing smaller projects, therefore requiring less amount of fabric, but a larger variety. I will be accomodating this by adjusting the minimum purchasing amount to 0,25 m for all patchwork fabrics. Of course, it will take a while for me to make the changes, but the gorgeous LULU ROSE collection is already available from 0,25 m. Should you see a patchwork fabric that has not been changed yet, don't hesitate to leave a message in the "message to seller box" during checkout. I'll happily adjust the quantity for you manually!

Die beliebten Art Gallery Fabrics Jerseystoffe gehen rucki-zucki weg! Insbesondere diese zwei Schönen. Davon habe ich nur noch ganz wenig Vorrat und habe sie schon nachbestellt. Bitte beachtet, dass die Lieferung bis zu 6 Wochen dauern kann. Von dem traumhaft schönen Pusteblumenstoff  in aktuellem Navy habe ich mir eine taillierte Tunika mit extralangen Ärmeln genäht. Die Qualität ist hervorragend! Das Teil mochte ich gar nicht ausziehen so bequem ist es! Außerdem habe ich mir noch ein Oversized Shirt mit Raglanärmel aus dem wunderbaren Jersey mit Hirsch Druck genäht. Das Shirt ist so kuschelig weich und schön stretchig :) Die Jerseys von AGF lassen sich sehr gut verarbeiten und die Muster sind einfach originell und einzigartig.

The popular Art Gallery Fabrics Knits are going fast! I have only a small amount of these two bestsellers left. I will re-order these, but keep in mind delivery takes up to 6 weeks.
I made a comfy but formfitting tunic with extra-long sleeves from this gorgeous dandelion print jersey in trending navy. The byline of AGF's logo really is justified, as the quality of the knits is superb! I did not want to take the tunic off, it's that comfortable :) I also made an oversized longsleeve Tee featuring a fun stag print on a warm grey. I'm a huge fan of the AGF knit range and can't wait to see what the AGF designers come up with next!
