Introducing: Freulein Emma

Today I have the great pleasure of introducing the delightful shop called "Freulein Emma"
♥

I discovered this wonderful shop about one year ago and was very impressed with the large variety of beautiful handmade items offered as well as the impeccable styling!

I was interested to learn more about Chris, the shop owner and designer of "Freulein Emma". Luckily she agreed to answer my questions :)
♥

(please tell us a little bit about your craft, how did you start out?)

Ich war schon immer kreativ. Habe immer irgendetwas gemacht: T-Shirts bemalt, Scherenschnitt, Seidenmalerei, Stricken….

I've always been crafty: painting on Tshirts, paper craft, silk painting, knitting...all except sewing, but during my time as a child care worker I had to put my crafting on the back burner. A few years ago I discovered a box of beads hidden in the depths of our basement and this box reignited my desire to craft again. I always wanted to learn how to sew and make my own purses. So I bought a sewing machine, practiced a lot and it worked out really well. I've been selling my popular frame purses ever since.

(what does a "typical" workday look like for you?)

Nothing is "typical" in my work day. It's most likely to look like this: clean the shop and studio, cut fabric, create jewelry, photograph my work light permitting, image processing...and of course I take time to entertain my three cats! I might do some administration in the afternoon and then back to crafting in the evenings. Plus there's the usual chores around the house to be done too. No day is the same for me.

(how do you handle a creative block?)

If I feel I'm stuck I give creating a rest, and if it happens to be a day that my (brick-and-mortar) shop is closed I generally go out and walk about. I love playing with my cats, read, phone or chat with friends. Luckily these creative blocks don't last long and I never put myself under pressure to create. I find that walking around town always helps!
4. beschreibe eins Deiner schönsten (Verkaufs)erlebnisse
(what is your most memorable experience concerning your business?)

I'm 40 years old now and in the last 20 years I've tried out so many different styles. I laugh when I think about my phase of wearing pant suits! But in recent years I've fallen for all things romantic, nostalgic and vintage and my shops reflect this style. When I opened my brick-and-mortar store an old acquaintance came in and said: oh, this style suits you perfectly. It's totally you! I was so surprised and still wonder why it took me so long to realise it myself. Another thing I love are repeat customers, especially those that after purchasing some of my items still have a big smile on their face when the exit the store. Love it.

There are loads more lovely items in Chris' beautiful shops, don't hesitate to stop by!

Purple & Olive

Energiebild Metatron

Last year I had the happy opportunity to meet a fellow artisan who actually lives in my little town! Angela recently opened a shop on DaWanda, Purple & Olive, so called as she absolutely loves this colour combination. Find out more about her a little further down this post...

English. I'm Angela Kaiser, mother of three grown children and  graphic designer by profession. Seven years ago I became self-employed in the area of communications training and as a mental coach. I have recently rediscovered my inner artist and my love of painting. I love being a woman and expressing my thoughts and emotions through painting. I work intuitively, letting subtle energies pass through me onto the canvas. Since I work on commission only, each painting is unique. I never quite know during the development stage how the final painting will turn out. It's a thrilling process and I am excited to find out where my creative path takes me...
