As a kid, Barbara has always loved all types of handicrafts, and later as she was training to become a child care worker she participated in craft classes which only served to reinforce her love for all things handmade. She simply needs to create with her hands and finds designing and making new items utterly satisfying. She tells me it is always an enriching experience creating something from an idea in her head, as she never knows how the finished product will look like. New ideas keep coming during the creative process. Barbara took a course in sculpture painting in Worpswede, a town near Bremen up in the North of Germany. She came away deeply impressed and started experimenting with paints on different surfaces. In her shop she offers small vintage furniture items painted in typical scandinavian colours such as white and soft pastels. She also offers useful object like pen trays and sewing boxes as well as all manner of pretty items that would look perfect in a shabby chic kitchen!
Her biggest challenge ist juggling a part-time job, her household plus her brandnew online shop. It is a daily balancing act and it is mostly weekends where she finds time to create new items to add to her shop.
Yet she believes in the handmade movement. She says it is important in times of mass-production. She continues to promote individuality and handicraft. Barbara believes this is a growing market as can be seen on sites like Etsy, Artfire, Dawanda etc. and this is a good thing.
Thank you so much for your time, dear Barbara!
