Hello everyone!
Numerous studies prove that art and creativity have a positive impact on health and can help process experiences that are too difficult to put into words. Making art is comforting, and like many others I feel it's more about the process than the result. These past few weeks I've spent lots of time in my studio making a variety of art. As I've mentioned previously, I'm not set on one specific style. The card at the top of this post is made with bits of leftover paper scraps, white gesso and a focal image.
The loose portraits above are done with gouache and colored pencils. I painted the flowers with aqua markers and fine liners.
I used distress inks to create the soft background in the art journal page above. Then layered with a few stamps and a stamped butterfly image.
And I've finally uploaded a video tutorial! The artwork below has lots of yummy layers and cool effects done with stencil paste and inks.
Thank you for visiting. Wishing you a great day!

Hello Duni! I'm home again and back to daily blogging! I really enjoyed your new video -- fascinating to see the art supplies you chose and how to use them. I especially liked the gesso for texture and how you sprayed the ink drops. Your post makes me want to get back to doing some art when I have time!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Debra! I am happy to know you enjoyed my tutorial ♥
DeleteDear Duni, I found your new post courtesy of The Old Reader! I am so glad I found (and suggested on my blog) a couple of alternative ways to keep up with one another's blogs! I loved your video, dear friend. I love the end result and how you worked to accomplish it! I really appreciate your talent!
ReplyDeleteI love the loose portraits and your choice of colours, patterns and design are always pleasing to the eye!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Linda!
DeleteThat’s true; I worked through my difficult childhood—right up into adulthood—using art therapy and paintings to express things that couldn't be put into words.
ReplyDeleteYour faces and their expressions are fantastic.
The last one turned out great, with a background that fits perfectly. I can see how you did it in the video—thank you! Have a wonderful time!
Hugs, Elke
Dear Elke, I'm glad art has helped you through challenging times ♥
DeleteThese are wonderful. You are very artistic.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! My niece was in therapy when she was young because of a traumatic experience she had. The therapist used art as a way of getting her to open up, so you are very correct by stating that it can help put words to difficult experiences or help express feelings, especially when one is too young to fully convey words they don't even know yet.
ReplyDeleteTheresa, I'm very glad to hear that your niece received art therapy at her time of need ♥
DeleteI think I should start painting.
