As mentioned before the recent changes on Etsy have forced me to come up with a new strategy for my shop. As my Etsy colleague Lana wisely pointed out ~ the best way to face changes is to become proactive :) So I took a good look at my Etsy stats, sat down and brainstormed new ideas and consequently revised my goals.

Previously my shop revolved around my feminine sleepwear, to which I received great feedback. In the course of my new goals I will sadly need to put my sleepwear....well, to sleep so to speak. Both my Pajama Sets and French knickers were both very time consuming to create. Plus when sewing clothing I ended up with plenty of irregular shaped scraps. I have three huge boxes full of scraps and it was getting out of hand! I tried monetizing those scraps, but I wouldn't be able to use up that many anyway - unless I made a crazy quilt, which would take ages...
So as of now I won't be offering my original sleepwear in my shop, however, I might fulfill special requests from time to time :)
My main focus for the shop is to offer lifestyle accessories with a shabby chic and retro flair! I will be offering a larger selection of my ever popular laundry bags, as well as "mix and match" heart ornaments - these make great stocking stuffers, plus if you buy up to three hearts I will combine the shipping costs, so you will only have to pay it once! The newest addition to my shop are adult-sized aprons. I designed them with a 50s diner in mind. They feature extra long ties, so that you'll be able to tie a cute bow in the front. There's a fully lined pocket too, and the aprons are trimmed with a charming ruffle (I couldn't resist). I will be adding a few more items, which I will reveal shortly.
Peridot...a shabby chic lifestyle
Attention international customers: If you're looking to gift my products this season please buy early to account for extended shipping times in the run-up to the big holidays!
Liebe Duni,
- einfach alles.
Ich wünsche Dir viel Erfolg mit Deinem "Shabby Chic lifestyle"!!!!!! :-)
Herzliche Grüße
Deine ANi
Guten Morgen liebe Duni,
Change can be hard to deal with but it sounds to me like you came up with a good plan. I love the look of that apron and that was a great idea with making the ties extra long. I always prefer to tie them in front instead of in back
ReplyDeleteThe apron is supercute! I also like the heart ornaments, and the way you captured them on camera.
ReplyDeleteLiebste Duni,
Karin
Your new aprons are cute! And those hearts are a great way to use up scraps...so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLana is right, being proactive is the best way to handle the changes! I'm still in the middle of re-stocking mine, so I haven't had time to think about new tactics yet, but I do agree that items that take a long time to make can't be in the picture. I plan to have a greater variety of things than what I have now, which I think will be key.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your shop !!!
I also have to find w new tactics.
I changed everything recently, now my shop is focused mainly on travel
Looks like some very fun changes! I am planning some changes for my shop, too.
ReplyDeleteShabby Chic is a wonderful idea! and fits your style and line so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ideas and gorgeous photos as ever Duni :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you great success in your business changes Duni! Aprons are a great idea since besides being a nice treat for oneself, they also make great gifts. I love your motto "a shabby chic lifestyle".
ReplyDeleteI noticed your lovely shop staring blooming! Many best wishes for your new line and many happy sales! Thank you for mention me in your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI just love those new retro aprons! and love the ruffles addition ( I know how time consuming it can be ) My advise ( again me my advises :) - Add to your retro collection - kitchen glove! - it will be lovely complement to aprons (and cheaper I hope)...
Now I know what to give my mom for B-Day :) Just a quick remind - she likes blue... hehe....
I love your new retro-styled aprons. They are super cute! I hope your new strategy works well.
ReplyDeleteWishing you much success with the new Peridot line!
ReplyDeleteI really resent when I am forced to change, but I see that you are taking it in stride and making a positive out of this. I wish you many sales and much luck!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the aprons. :)
Your shop looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeletebest of luck!
Your new products are great Duni! Congrats on the changes and best of luck with your reworked shop! I think you'll do great. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about scraps! I package some of them in bags of like colors and sell a few of them in my supply store. The rest are always on my mind and I like using them up--like you said, maybe I should make a crazy quilt. I started several blocks last year but left the project. Now I have lots more scraps and need to get working on finishing that project!
