A Fine Day

We are currently experiencing unbelievably beautiful weather! Blue skies, 27°C (80.6°F), a light breeze - too good a day to spend indoors, so hubby and I both took a day off and decided to go for a drive around the countryside. Besides, it was our 10th wedding anniversary :) After driving for a bit we came upon a charming village. I saw some cute houses, a pretty flower shop and an ancient cloister. We walked passed a rippling stream and then in the middle of nowhere a jewel of a restaurant! We decided to stop there for lunch and sat in their pretty courtyard that even had a little fountain...it was a perfect day!

Wir hier im Münsterland werden ja momentan mit richtig schönem Wetter verwöhnt! Mein Mann und ich haben uns deshalb gestern frei genommen. Wir sind etwas raus gefahren bis wir zu diesem reizenden kleinen Ort inklusive uraltem Kloster gekommen sind. Es gab dort auch einen hübschen Blumenladen und kleine individuelle Boutiquen und traumhaft schöne Häuser. Unser Spaziergang führte uns zu einem wunderschönen Bach und gleich dahinter etwas versteckt ein Juwel von einem Restaurant. Wir haben uns in den charmanten Innenhof (mit Springbrunnen) gesetzt und dort zu Mittag gegessen. Das Essen und das ganze Ambiente war hervorragend...es war ein wirklich schöner Tag!

Mango Buttermilk Smoothie

We've had a couple of glorious summer days, even though it's not officially summer yet. I'm not complaining, I love it. When the temps rise to 30°C (86°F) the best way to cool off is with a homemade mango buttermilk smoothie! Mine's the healthy version without ice cream :)

Die letzten paar Tage waren so sommerlich warm da hatte ich richtig Lust auf ein Mango Smoothie - die gesunde Variante ohne Eis :)

Ingredients / Zutaten

1 large ripe mango / 1 große reife Mango

lime / Limette

sugar / Zucker

natural buttermilk / reine Buttermilch

scoop of crushed ice if desired / eine handvoll zerstoßene Eiswürfel (optional)

Chop up the mango and put in blender. Add lime juice, sugar to taste, buttermilk and crushed ice. Blend until smooth. Pour into 4 glasses and serve immediately.

Mango in Stücke schneiden und in den Standmixer geben. Saft der Limette, Buttermilch und wer möchte, die zerstoßenen Eiswürfel dazugeben. 1 - 2 EL Zucker dazu und solange pürieren bis alles gut verrührt ist. In 4 Gläser gießen und sofort servieren.

Hi everybody! Hallo, ihr Lieben!

I must say, Amy Butler's Gypsy Collection is absolutely gorgeous. Even better than I remembered from the trade fair back in March.

Ich muß sagen, die Amy Butler Gypsy Kollektion ist traumhaft schön, noch viel besser als ich sie auf der Messe in Erinnerung hatte.

In a previous post I mentioned I had been working on a pair of summer shorts (for me). Well here they are! I chose "Cutting Garden" in the butter colorway and picked up the lilac colors in the gingham trim. I can't wait to wear these and looks like I'll be able to soon, because the weather is finally warming up!

Ich habe mir eine Shorts genäht, und zwar aus dem Stoff "Cutting Garden" in der buttergelben Variante. Die Beinabschlüsse habe ich mit einem zartlila Schrägband eingefasst - es passte farblich so schön zu den lavendelfarbenen Blumen. Stoff von hier und Schrägband hier.

Nostalgic pink rose pouch

Well, the first of the re-released fabrics from the "Barefoot Roses" collection arrived and I just had to cut into it and make this little pouch. This collection is all about modern romance featuring nostalgic pink rose bouquets, rose medallions and polka dots. I embellished the front panel with a pleated strip of red gingham and creamy floral lace. It is fully lined with a blush pink polka dot cotton fabric. Sweetness!

Der erste nostalgische Rosenstoff aus der "Barefoot Roses" Kollektion ist eingetroffen, und ich musste daraus unbedingt ein kleines romantisches Täschchen fertigen. Das vordere Panel habe ich mit einem gerüschten Vichy und cremiger Spitze verziert. Innen ist es mit rosa Polkadots gefüttert. So richtig schön shabby chic!

Just looking at these fabrics together brings a smile to my face. The little pouch is large enough to store your daily essentials yet will easily fit into your purse.

Das Täschchen ist süß und praktisch - alle "lebensnotwendigen" Dinge lassen sich hier problemlos verstauen, immer griffbereit in der Handtasche.

This OOAK pouch measures about 7.5 " widening to about 8" inches at the bottom, about 5" tall and 1" deep. It is fully lined and softly padded throughout and opens/closes with a cream zipper. I will be listing it in my shop soon!

Dieses Täschchen ist (wie alle meine Taschen) ein Einzelstück. Es ist ca. 20 cm breit, 13 cm hoch und 2,5 cm tief. Es ist vollständig gefüttert und mit Vlies stabilisiert. Öffnet/schließt mit einem cremefarbenen Reißverschluss. Dieses romantische Täschchen kommt bald in den Shop!

Well, the week started off with a pink wool explosion! I never noticed Molly sneaking off into the bedroom, where she found my pink wool project - a complicated lace scarf that I had been working on since March. All of the balls of wool were completely unravelled and criss-crossing all over the bed, around table and chair legs. Pink wool everywhere! I found Molly underneath the bed complacently chewing on my half-finished scarf. I'm sure she thought it's the best "toy" ever!! I tell you, all of this happened in just a few minutes, but it took me forever to clean up the mess. haha. Cats are great entertainers, wouldn't you agree?
The allium (or purple balls as I like to call them) are flowering again. So pretty. I also planted lots of parsley, one of my favourite herbs. And I finally got round to altering a pair of old-but-in-good-condition chino pants. Alterations are my least favourite sewing project. To compensate I made myself a pair of summer shorts using one of the gorgeous fabrics from Amy Butler's Gypsy collection. This evening we need to take Sammy to the v-e-t for his annual vaccinations and I'm not looking forward to that all. In case you're wondering, no, Sammy and Molly have not become friends (yet). And my wool lace scarf? Well, after Molly was finished with it it had holes the size of a fist in it, so I binned it ;-)

Die Woche fing damit an, dass sich Molly unbemerkt ins Schlafzimmer schlich und dort prompt meine pinkfarbene Wolle entdeckte! In den wenigen Minuten danach könnt ihr euch ja vorstellen was passiert ist ;-) Als ich ins Zimmer kam war die ganze Wolle über und unter dem Bett, Tisch und Stuhl verteilt! Und wo war Molly? Die hatte es sich inzwischen unter dem Bett gemütlich gemacht und kaute in aller Ruhe an meinem halbfertigen Lace Schal und sah dabei ganz süß und vollkommen unschuldig aus! Haha. Katzen sind wirklich unterhaltsam, oder etwa nicht?!
Die Allium (oder wie ich sie nenne, lila Bälle) blühen wieder. Ich mag diese zartlila Farbe gern. Diese Woche bin ich endlich dazu gekommen eine alte aber noch gut erhaltene Chinohose zu ändern, obwohl ich es eher mühsam finde, Bekleidung zu ändern, aber diese Hose war noch nicht reif für den Altkleidersack. Als Ausgleich habe ich mir noch was Schönes genäht: eine Sommershorts aus dem traumhaft schönen Stoff von Amy Butler's Gypsy Kollektion. Ich freue mich schon auf warme Tage an denen ich sie tragen kann! Und heute abend geht's mit Sammy zum Tierarzt für die jährliche Impfung. Darauf freue ich mich weniger aber es muß leider sein. Sammy und Molly kommen sich jeden Tag näher, aber Freunde sind sie noch lange nicht. Und was ist mit meinem Schal? Tja, nachdem Molly damit fertig war, waren die Lace-Effekt Löcher faustgroß - ein Fall für die Tonne ;-)

My mom gave me this cute little cat made from lace tatting. This style of tatting dates back to the 16th century and the region in Germany called the Erz Mountains is well-known for this handicraft. There are a myriad of patterns available and usually people hang these pieces in the window, but I thought my little cat would look much better framed!

Meine Mutter hat mir diese niedlich Katze aus Klöppelspitze aus dem Erzgebirge geschenkt. Diese Handarbeitstechnik geht auf das 16. Jahrhundert zurück; in Deutschland gelten das Erzgebirge, Niedersachsen und Franken als traditionelle Klöppelregionen. Es gibt unzählige Muster, die zu solchen Dekoelementen, Deckchen oder Spitzen verarbeitet werden. Normalerweise hängt man sie ins Fenster, aber eingerahmt wirkt mein Kätzchen noch schöner, finde ich.

This is a ten minute project that is super easy. First I selected a suitable frame, which I decorated with tiny white pearls and a small bow at the top. I removed the glass. Then I cut a piece of natural linen a little larger than the cardboard backing and stuck it down in the back. I inserted it back in the frame. Finally I dabbed a few dots of glue to the back of the cat and stuck that down in the center. That's it!

Dieses Projekt habe ich in zehn Minuten fertig bekommen, so einfach ist es. Erstens habe ich mir einen passenden Rahmen ausgesucht, den ich mit kleinen weißen Perlen und einer Schleife verziert habe. Als nächstes habe ich ein Stück Naturleinen etwas größer als die Rückwand ausgeschnitten und festgeklebt. Die Rückwand habe ich dann wieder in den Rahmen gesteckt. Zuletzt habe ich das Kätzchen mittig mit wenig Textilkleber auf das Leinen befestigt. Fertig!

Asparagus & Strawberry Salad

Here's a quick, delicious and healthy salad that is great for weekend lunches, when you'd rather be reading/crafting/going for walks/meeting friends for coffee than slaving away in the kitchen!

Hier mein schnelles, gesundes und absolut leckeres Rezept für einen Spargel-Erdbeer-Salat - so bleibt am Wochenende noch genug Zeit für schöne Dinge wie Lesen, Crafting, Spaziergänge machen und Freunde treffen!

Ingredients / Zutaten

makes two portions / für zwei Personen

500 gr market fresh green asparagus / 500 marktfrischen grünen Spargel

a tub of strawberries / ein Töpfchen Erdbeeren

oil for frying / Mazola zum Braten

Greek Feta Cheese / Fetakäse

3 tbls. olive oil / 3 EL Olivenöl

2 tbls. Aceto balsamico / 2 EL Aceto balsamico

salt / Salz

pinch sugar / Prise Zucker

freshly ground black pepper / frisch gemahlener schwarzer Pfeffer

Wash, chop and fry asparagus until tender (about 7 minutes). While frying add a pinch of sugar - this will bring out the "sweetness" of the vegetable. Set aside and cool. Wash, dry and halve strawberries. Roughly chop up the feta cheese. In a large serving bowl whisk olive oil, salt, aceto balsamico. Add main ingredients and stir to coat. When serving add freshly ground black pepper. Enjoy with wholewheat toast!

Spargel waschen, in Stücke schneiden und mit Mazolaöl und einer Prise Zucker so lange braten bis er gar aber bissfest ist (ca. 7 Minuten). Abkühlen lassen. Erdbeeren waschen, trocknen und halbieren. Fetakäse grob hacken. In einer Salatschüssel Olivenöl, Salz und Aceto balsamico mit dem Schneebesen verrühren. Zutaten beifügen und mischen. Salat mit frisch gemahlenen schwarzen Pfeffer und Vollkorntoastscheiben servieren. Guten Appetit!

Molly's story ::: Molly's Geschichte

Once upon a time, no, actually about two months ago a scrawny kitty quietly slipped into the living room when I went to open the door. She must have belonged to someone once, because she was wearing a manky collar that was way too tight around her neck. I presume the previous "owners" put it on her when she was a baby and when they tired of her, they simply left her to fend for herself in the great outdoors. She must've been out there for months, in the cold, starving. Her eyes seemed to say "please remove this collar, I can barely breathe". With the help of hubby we gently got it off and the kitty (I christened her Molly) and I were so relieved. Thereafter she came to visit us each morning and evening, hungrily gobbling up the food and water I left out for her. Despite her size she's pretty ferocious - no wonder, she's had to survive outdoors all these months. But she's also playful. And curious and feisty. Just look at her trying to catch the mouse hidden in the scratching post!
However, she's still very much feral, and I'm hoping with patience she will come to trust us, so that we can take her to the vet for the necessary vaccinations. It's difficult to tell how old she is, I'm guessing about seven months. I do hope she will consider our home her "furever home".

Es war einmal...ein kleines, abgemagertes Kätzchen, dass vor ca. zwei Monaten durch die Balkontür ins Wohnzimmer schlich. Ein viel zu enges dreckiges Halsband war um ihren Hals geschnürt - ich nehme an es wurde ihr als Katzenbaby umgelegt. Und als sie größer und lebhafter wurde, und die Gardine schon ein paar Risse mehr hatte, na, da hat man sie einfach ausgesetzt. Nun, auch Katzenbabies wachsen und sie schien mich mit ihren grünen Augen anzuflehen "bitte, bitte, mach doch dieses dumme Halsband ab! Ich kann ja kaum atmen!" Mit Hilfe von meinem Mann haben wir es abbekommen und das Kätzchen (ich habe sie Molly getauft) und ich waren ja so erleichtert. Seither kommt sie uns jeden Morgen und Abend besuchen. Ich stelle für sie Futter und Wasser raus, auf das sie sich immer sofort stürzt, so hungrig ist sie. Ich hoffe, dass sie bald zutraulicher wird, denn früher oder später müssen wir sie zum Tierarzt bringen, damit sie die notwendigen Impfungen bekommt. Bis dahin dauerts aber noch, denn sie ist eine ganz Wilde, aber auch neugierig und verspielt (siehe Bild oben wo sie versucht die verstecke Maus aus dem Kratzbaum zu holen). Ich weiß nicht wie alt sie ist, ich schätze sie auf sieben Monate. Ich hoffe sie weiß, dass sie bei uns immer einen sicheren Zufluchtsort hat.

And Sammy? What does he think about this latest development? Well, he's a bit daunted by this lively newcomer and I guess, not the least bit amused. I hope they will eventually get used to each other. I know Molly will always be an outdoor cat, so Sammy needn't worry about her taking over the house ;-)

Und Sammy? Was hält er von der ganzen Sache? Er findet es weniger amüsant und wirkt etwas eingeschüchtert. Bleibt abzuwarten ob die beiden sich in Zukunft vertragen. Ich denke es wird schon klappen, denn Molly wird immer Freilaufkatze bleiben und so braucht Sammy sich vorerst keine Sorgen um sein Revier zu machen ;-)

The month of May traditionally kicks off the wedding season. Recently Etsy has introduced a registry - a smart move as an increasing number of young couples opt for a handmade wedding! My moodboard today is wedding inspired, featuring a few handmade items from European Etsy sellers. The necklace would make a sweet bridesmaid gift and I would have loved for my bridesmaids to have worn that pretty floral dress - alas at that time I didn't know about Etsy yet!

Mit dem Monat Mai beginnt traditionell die Hochzeitssaison! Und das ist auch das heutige Thema hier auf meinem Moodboard. Seit neuestem können sich zukünftige Ehepaare bei Etsy anmelden und eine "Handmade Wunschliste" ausfüllen - die Hochzeitsgäste können diese dann einsehen und aussuchen, welche Wünsche sie für das Hochzeitspaar erfüllen möchten...hätte ich damals gewusst, dass es Etsy gibt, hätte ich das bestimmt auch so gemacht :)

Make your own Mother's Day Card

I had my Mom in mind when I made this card. She might be over seventy, but she still loves all things girly like me! Here's a super easy way to create a card with scraps of fabric and any embellishments and ribbon you have on hand.

Meine Mutter mag zwar über siebzig sein, dennoch mag sie immer noch alles was mädchenhaft und sweet ist (so wie ich)! Diese Muttertagskarte habe ich speziell für sie gebastelt. Sie ist ruckzuck mit ein paar Stoffresten, Schleifenband und was man sonst noch so vorrätig hat gemacht.

You'll need / Man braucht

Cardstock

border punch / Bordürenstanzer

scraps of fabric / Stoffreste

pinking shears / Zackenschere

glue / Kleber

embellishments / Dinge zum Verzieren

sewing machine / Nähmaschine

Step One to Four / Schritt Eins bis Vier

Cut the card size required from the card stock. Fold in half and punch both edges.

With pinking shears cut as many small triangles from the fabric as necessary to make the bunting. Stick on to the card front. Stitch in place. Make sure you stitch from one edge of the card to the other in one continuous line. Add ribbons, tags, stickers - anything you like to make it a special Mother's Day card!

Gewünschte Kartengröße aus dem Cardstock schneiden. Zur Hälfte falten und beide Kanten ausstanzen. Mit der Zackenschere so viele kleine Dreiecke aus den Stoffresten schneiden wie auf die Karte passen.In der gewünschten Reihenfolge auf die Vorderseite der Karte kleben. Die Wimpel mit einem Geradstich verbinden, dabei von einer Seite der Karte bis zur anderen durchgehend steppen. Zuletzt mit Schleifchen, Sticker, Tags verzieren - fertig ist eure einzigartige Muttertagskarte!

Quilted White Linen Pouch

It's a public holiday here today and after a heavy rain storm this morning the sun is finally breaking through the clouds and I'm hoping it will stay a while...

Mädels, wir hatten heute morgen so ein heftiges Gewitter, aber jetzt endlich kommt die Sonne hinter den Wolken hervor. Hoffentlich bleibt sie ein Weilchen...dann kann ich mich endlich (am heutigen Feiertag) auf die Terrasse setzen!

I had some of this soft white linen fabric left, just enough to make this cute flat bottom pouch. I quilted the entire body, which is a bit difficult to see as it's white on white. Also, I finally found a use for these tiny satin ribbon roses I had in my stash - I handstitched them all over the front panel. I love the way it turned out. This would make a special gift for a bride-to-be and don't forget Mother's Day is just around the corner.

On a more serious note, I have noticed a handful of anonymous Etsy members "hearting" almost all of my items. I should be flattered I suppose, but then I went and checked out their favourites and found that they also put the exact same fabrics I use on their list. I find that a bit disturbing. It just looks very much like they are trying to re-create my items. No problem if they do this for their own personal use, but if they are collecting ideas for their future Etsy shop? Now that's not so funny.
In cases like this I always add them to my circle. Just a small hint that I am aware of everything that goes on behind the scenes. I've worked very hard coming up with original designs and I just wish that people would respect that!
What's your take on that? Have you noticed that in your Etsy shop too? Anyway, if you spot identical items to my own on Etsy in future - please do let me know!!

white linen pouch / weißes Leinentäschchen

Ich hatte noch etwas von diesem weichen weißen Leinenstoff übrig, genug um daraus ein kleines Kosmetiktäschchen zu nähen. Der Taschenkörper ist gequiltet, was man im Foto leider nicht so gut erkennen kann, da weiß auf weiß. Endlich habe ich auch einen Nutzen für die süßen kleinen Satinrosen gefunden. Die habe ich per Hand auf die Front genäht. Wie alle meine Taschen ist auch diese mit Vlies stabilisiert und vollständig gefüttert. Details mit Klick auf den Link oben.

it's unbelievable, but in other parts of Germany people are enjoying 30°C (about 86°F) sunny weather, while I'm shivering in my cardigan!

Fabulous Fabric Creations

You know how much I love fabric. I'm sure lots of you do too! About the same time last year I took the risk and opened up my very own fabric shoppe specializing in premium designer cottons. Looking back I'm thinking why didn't I start this sooner? I love interacting with my customers and I know they have come to trust me on all matters concerning fabrics and sewing. To show my appreciation to my customers I have started a Flickr group where they can show off their unique fabric creations. It's by invitation only, but the photos are public, so they are visible to everyone!

Here's an example of what my talented customers are creating from my fabrics:

Wie ihr sicherlich wisst liebe ich Stoffe! Vor ca. einem Jahr habe ich den Sprung gewagt und meinen kleinen Stoffladen, spezialisiert auf Designer Patchworkstoffe aus USA, gegründet. Rückblickend frage ich mich warum ich das nicht schon viel früher gemacht habe, denn ich liebe das Interagieren mit meinen Kunden. Ich beantworte gerne alle Fragen rund um Stoffe und Verarbeitung und habe auch schon einigen Kunden bei nähtechnischen Problemen geholfen! Weil ich meine Kunden sehr schätze habe ich eine Flickr Gruppe gestartet speziell für die einzigartigen Artikel, die aus meinen Stoffen entstanden sind. Wer Flickr noch nicht kennt - es ist eine Online Fotogallerie - die Fotos sind öffentlich, d.h. sie sind auch bei Google auffindbar! Natürlich werden alle Fotos mit der entsprechenden Webseite/Dawanda Shop des Besitzers verlinkt. Oben seht ihr zwei Pinnwände, die eine Kundin aus meinen Stoffen gefertigt hat! Süß und praktisch, finde ich :)

I was wondering why I had 3000+ Etsy shop views today - I'm so glad Edi of MemoriesforLifeScrapbooks kindly let me know that my Paradise Pajama Set was included in the Etsy Finds shopping guide! It was included in the "find a unique gift for Mom now" section. Wow, this is my first time ever to be included here since opening my shop in December 2010 and I'm so excited!

Ich hatte mich heute morgen echt gewundert, dass mein Etsy Shop 3000+ Ansichten hatte! Zum Glück hat mich Edi von MemoriesforLifeScrapbooks aufgeklärt. Mein Paradise Pyjama war wohl gestern im Etsy Geschenkefinder! Ich fühle mich total geehrt und ich bin sooo happy!

Bei mir zuhause gibt's nicht nur bunte Blümchenmuster...

These funky espresso cups with newspaper print are over ten years old ~ a gift from a friend. Don't you just love the kitty on the postcard? The black beret and the black and white striped "sweater" are too cute! Sammy would never allow it ;-)

Diese witzigen Espresso Tassen mit dem Zeitungsdruck sind über zehn Jahre alt ~ ein Geschenk von lieben Freunden. Die Postkarte mit der Katze musste mit ins Bild - die finde ich ja so niedlich mit der schwarzen Baskenmütze und dem schwarz-weiß gestreiften Pulli! Sammy würde sich das niemals gefallen lassen ;-)

If you are wondering what these little balls are...they are in fact rolled tea leaves called Dragon Pearls. Just thought they looked nice in the small white scalloped dish!

Die kleinen Bällchen sind keine Pfefferkörner...das sind gerollte Teeblätter, genannt Dragon Pearls. Ein schöner Kontrast zu dem weißen Muffinförmchen!

Last but not least, my snow white pajama set has been included in this aptly named black and white Etsy treasury curated by the talented Pam of Bates Mercantile Co. I appreciate it very much, thank you Pam!

Gypsy Revival

I can't remember exactly when I discovered and fell in love with Amy Butler fabrics, but it must have been around the time her Lotus collection - my all time favourite - was printed.
Since then she consistently designed stunning collections from earthy "Nigella" to vibrant "Love".
It was quite an experience meeting her in person last year. She is very dynamic and full of energy which I admire. Her last two collections however, for reasons I can't explain, did not strike a chord in me so I overlooked them. Thank goodness her very first fabric line is being reprinted by popular demand - I'm absolutely loving Gypsy Caravan (above) and in about two weeks time I will be receiving these in my fabric shoppe (now translated in English btw)!

Ich kann mich gar nicht erinnern wann ich auf die tollen Amy Butler Stoffe gestoßen bin, aber es muß so um die Zeit gewesen sein, als ihre Lotus Kollektion auf den Markt kam. Von dem Zeitpunkt an war ich immer wieder begeistert von den Folge-Kollektionen - Nigella bis hin zu Love - allesamt großartig. Toll fand ich auch, dass ich die Designerin letztes Jahr persönlich kennenlernen durfte. Sie ist eine dynamische Person und sprudelt nur so vor Energie! Ihre letzten beiden Kollektionen haben mich leider aus irgendeinem Grund, den ich nicht erklären kann, nicht berührt. Umso mehr freue ich mich, dass ihre allererste Kollektion, die wunderschöne "Gypsy Caravan" (siehe oben) auf vielfachen Wunsch nochmal aufgelegt wurde und in circa zwei Wochen bei mir im Stofflädchen eintreffen wird!

This is such a fun plaid fabric. It's got green, pink and red stripes and they come together nicely on the sky blue background. I edged the pant legs with ruffles in a coordinating floral/birdy fabric! Wish it was summer already :)

I'm expecting a bulk delivery of roseprint fabrics in the next few weeks. I'm really excited about these and hope to make an assortment of French knickers (as time permits).

I suffered from a bad migraine all weekend. I'm no stranger to migraines but when it hits it's impossible for me to get any work done let alone any sewing. Anyway I found some soothing items for today's moodboard - all from European Street Team sellers on Etsy!

Ich hatte das ganze Wochenende eine heftige Migräne, so daß ich nicht ein einziges neues Teil nähen konnte. Naja, ist nicht zu ändern. Unterdessen habe ich bei Etsy gestöbert und diese schönen Dinge entdeckt - die hätte ich sehr gut gebrauchen können! Alle Produkte sind von europäischen Etsy Verkäufern.

And specially for Lin, a photo of the bird's nest I wrote about a while back. The magpies were flitting about in the garden, but I couldn't get a proper photo of them, they were too fast.

Zuletzt noch ein Bild von dem Elster-Vogelnest. Dies ist speziell für Lin, die es unbedingt sehen wollte.

Polkadot & Gingham headband

I decided to make another headband similar to my first one featured on the Mollie Makes blog recently.

Hier habe ich wieder eine einfache Anleitung für euch! Ein hübsches Haarband mit Blüte, ähnlich wie dieses (wurde neulich auf dem Mollie Makes Blog vorgestellt).

supplies needed / Material

one plastic headband (mine is thin) / ein Plastikhaarband (meins ist dünn)

bias binding pre-folded / Schrägband vorgefalzt

rectangular piece of fabric 24" long x 6 " wide / Stoffrest ca. 60 cm x 15 cm

needle & thread / Nähnadel & Faden

fabric scissors & pinking shears / Stoffschere & Zackenschere

button / Knopf

good quality fabric glue / Textilkleber

Step one / Schritt Eins

Cut off a piece of bias binding long enough to cover the entire headband (about 55 "). Starting at one end wrap diagonally around the headband gluing as you go. Fold both ends under and glue. Let this dry completely.

Ein ca. 140 cm langes Stück Schrägband abschneiden. Dieses nun von einem Ende zum anderen diagonal um das Haarband wicklen, dabei festkleben. Beide Enden einschlagen und festkleben. Gut trocknen lassen.

Step two / Schritt Zwei

On the wrong side of the fabric rectangle draw a line about 22 " long. Using a simple petal template draw the shapes approx. 1/2 " above this line leaving a space in between. Connect the petals by drawing a line about 1" long.

Auf der linken Seite des Stoffstreifens eine Linie ca. 56 cm zeichnen. Ca. einen Zentimeter darüber einfache Blütenblätter zeichen (aus einem Stück Papier eine Schablone fertigen). Die Blütenblätter mit ca. 1,5cm langen Strichen verbinden.

Step three / Schritt Drei

Using pinking shears cut along the bottom line and along the petals, but use normal fabric scissors to cut the section in between. You should end up with a long garland like picture No. 3.

Mit der Zackenschere an der unteren Linie und entlang der Blätter schneiden. Die Zwischenlinien jedoch mit der normal Stoffschere schneiden. Das Ergebnis sollte so aussehen wie Bild Nr. 3.

Step four / Schritt vier

Thread your needle with a long coordinating thread. Starting at one end sew basting stitches along the bottom. Every couple of stitches pull thread - the petals will automatically form a flower shape. Sew both ends together, move needle through the middle to the back side and secure with a few stitches, then move needle back through the middle to the top and sew on a button. Finish by securing with a knot on the back side of the flower.

Finally, attach flower on headband with a bit of glue!

Langen, farblich passenden Faden in die Nähnadel einfädeln. An einem Ende beginnend am unteren Rand große Stiche machen. Nach ein paar Stichen den Faden anziehen und die Blütenblätter zusammenschieben. Sie bilden automatisch eine Blüte. Offene Enden zusammennähen, Faden durch die Mitte auf die Rückseite ziehen und mit ein paar Stichen die Blüteform fixieren. Dann die Nähnadel wieder durch die Mitte nach oben führen und einen Knopf annähen. Faden auf der Rückseite verknoten.

Zuletzt die Blüte mit etwas Textilkleber auf dem Haarband fixieren!

Buttons & Bows

Hi there! Hallo Mädels!

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter holiday :)

Ich hoffe ihr hattet erholsame Osterfeiertage :)

Last week I received my first shipment from France. I was so excited unpacking all the ribbons, bias binding and buttons. I use a lot of bias binding for my bags and clothing, so these will come in really handy. They come in three variations: gingham, polka dots and gingham with crochet edging. Cute!

Letze Woche ist die erste Bänder/Borten Lieferung aus Frankreich eingetroffen! Die Schrägbänder gibt es in Vichy, Püncktchen und Vichy mit Häkelborte. Süß! Ich benutze sehr viel davon für meine Taschen und Bekleidung und nun habe ich sie endlich auf Vorrat.

Yummy polka dot buttons! I'm really pleased with these - I only saw them in a catalogue before - so I might get other colours as well. I look forward to add these to my clothing! Plus they are great for scrapbooking too :)

Niedliche Püncktchen-Knöpfe! Ich hatte sie zuvor nur im Katalog gesehen - in Natura sind ja sie noch viel schöner und je nach dem wie der Abverkauf ist, werde ich noch weitere Farben bestellen! Die Knöpfe glänzen leicht und sind hinten einfarbig matt, daher auch super für Scrapbook-Projekte zu verwenden :)

I've also stocked dainty lace, ruffle trim, ribbons for decorating, floral woven ribbons and luxury velvet ribbons in soft rose and burgundy! I'm still busy taking photos, but I hope to have them all listed soon. I'm happy to report I've already sold some! I mean...which serious seamstress could resist, right?

Außer Schrägbänder gibt es noch zarte Spitze, elastische Vichy-Rüschen, schmale Vichy-Dekobänder, Blumenborten und edele Samtbänder in altrosa und weinrot! Die muß ich aber noch alle fotografieren. Bis Ende der Woche sollten sie eingestellt sein. Wer Interesse hat schaut hier und hier.
