It's been ages since I've shared a "life lately" post! After a whirlwind of activity in the last couple of months I found myself in a bit of an emotional slump. Part of me is relieved that I have finally wrapped up my Mom's legal affairs. But I'm also acutely aware that I'm closing a whole chapter of my life. It fills me with a deep sadness that leaves me drained. I'm sure that anyone who has experienced the loss of a close relative can relate!
As a spiritual person I have taken steps to find my way back to my usual optimistic self. Apart from my daily gratitude practice I have rediscovered spiritual poetry by the 13th century Sufi mystic Rumi. I found the book among my mother's things and I remember we read it together years ago...
As I'm prone to reading several books simultaneously (yes, I'm a book nerd) I'm also currently enjoying Super Brain (see image above) and highly recommend it :)
The other day I went for a walk at a nearby lake, and afterwards had the most delicious vegetarian meal! I even got to enjoy eating it outdoors as the sun was out! The meal consisted of this creamy ricotta patty with fresh spinach and herbs wrapped in a thin crepe. Along with this there was a fresh side salad with a light yoghurt dressing. This wasn't just any plain old lettuce, this was gourmet salad. Best of all there was a serving of the most crispy sweet potato fries with a curry-chilli sauce on the side. Yum!!
At home I've been eating a lot of cherries. They seem to be sweeter this year :) I also devoted some time to working with essential oils - the workbook that I inherited from my Mom has a lot of useful handwritten notes in it. I also set some time aside to design at make some new shabby chic decor for my Etsy shop!
I received a fabric shipment! I know that doesn't sound like much to most, but to me it's super exciting :)
After slacking in the exercise department these last couple of months I am easing back into my regular Yoga routine. I'm also reading along / working with The Happiness Forecast Video + Blog Series. This project devised by Sophia (who is married to a friend of mine from Germany) helps achieve happiness regardless of our outer circumstances. I really love her authenticity and her hands-on approach.
I'm always on the lookout for original instagram feeds. By that I mean unique, not copied or following a formula. Although showing possibly the poorest regions of the world, I am hooked on the evocative and strong imagery of this amazing account besides loving what they accomplish! Makes me want to sign up and volunteer :)
Speaking of instagram...HUGE thanks to everyone following my new account @duni_studio_stoffe. I'm absolutely thrilled! Happy Tuesday.
