Chocolate Pecan Squares

The Austrians are renowned for their delectable desserts, notably the Sachertorte which I will not even attempt to recreate at home. Last month in Tyrol I indulged in all types of cakes and desserts for breakfast, lunch and dinner - really, it was amazing :)
Anyway, I made a batch of dark chocolate pecan squares to indulge my cravings. My US friends won't find it unusual that I've used pecans. The fact is, they are not readily available here, so these ones were sent to me by my brother who happens to live in USA :)

moist chocolatey goodness * herrlich schokoladig
For the frosting I prefer semi-sweet chocolate and premium quality ingredients for the cocoa and butter. After all, I want my squares to taste divine ;-)
*

As promised a few Tyrol impressions. As it was raining the whole week my pics turned out rubbish, so I had to ask another guest who had arrived a few days earlier to send me some. Main picture shows the family-owned mountain chalet. Scenery from atop the Ahornberg. Little guests and the super friendly registrar in traditional Dirndl at the wedding. My walking boots.

Meine Wanderschuhe.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and a happy and safe Halloween to everyone celebrating!

  22. Hi Duni! There's so much beauty in this post.

Your chocolate pecan squares look so sumptuous, despite the fact that I'm not really in to chocolates. Yes, I'm that weird haha

And the most awaited pictures of the place you recently visited... oh my! They are so breathtaking! The chalet is so elegant and the view of the mountains is priceless.

Thank you for sharing these pieces of beauty.
Hope you are having a great week.

  24. That is interesting about the pecans. They are in every grocery store in the US. We love our pecans in dessert! Your chocolatey one looks divine.

The chalet is so charming and exactly what I would expect to see in the mountains of Austria! The color of that lake is amazing.
