Hot Chocolate :)

Hello lovelies!          Hallo Mädels!

Have you ever tried making hot chocolate from scratch? I did and it tastes so much better than the store-bought ready mixed stuff. Plus you can adjust the sweetness to your taste!
*
Habt Ihr schon mal "richtige" heiße Schokolade zubereitet?

Here's a recipe that fills 4 regular sized mugs.
Basically, you finely grate a bar of chocolate (milk or dark, both work fine). In a small bowl mix together 5 tblsp. good quality pure cocoa with 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon and 1 - 2  sachets of vanilla sugar, depending how sweet you'd like it to be.
*

In a medium sized pot bring milk to boiling point, then turn down heat immediately. Stir in cocoa and grated chocolate and whisk until completely dissolved. Pour into mugs and enjoy!
*

Thinking of hot chocolate makes me long for fall to arrive sooner! I've just moved to Rhineland-Pfalz and I'm glad I found your blog, firstly because it's lovely and secondly, because it will help me learn German! :) Thanks for a great post!

It sounds delicious! We buy shaved chocolate at the store and make our own, too. There really is a difference when you use the real thing!

I agree that there is really no comparison between handmade and store bought hot chocolate! It's been years since I made any. Yours looks so good...I can almost smell it! :)

yes - and it is delicious! I made the mistake of making for my daughters one cold winter day ... now the store pre-mix stuff just won't do!
