Random thoughts

Hi everybody!

I will be taking a short break to recover from my sewing marathon! I need some time to regroup, rethink my business, and most importantly re-energize. Not to mention tackling those piles of laundry. And grocery shopping. And preparing a home-cooked meal finally.

Save for some scraps that are destined to be made into sleep masks my entire stack of designer fabrics has been used up. I've re-ordered, although no sight of the fabrics as yet. They might be stuck in customs, but if that were the case I would have received a letter. More likely the postal service is the culprit - it's been devastatingly slow ever since Christmas. Only yesterday I received an item I ordered in January! I know I should be thankful I received it at all, but two months? Come on.

Two projects around the house lined up. We're planning to transform the rather unkempt front garden into a Zen-like rock garden with a couple of box trees interspersed here and there and some cool movement-sensitive lighting that will glow from within the rocks.
The other project revolves around our dining room. Since we and our guests all seem to congregate and eat in the kitchen anyway we figured we'd make better use of that room. So we sold our much-too-big dining room table to make space for a relaxation and reading area! Think bookcases, soft couch with lots of cushions, reading lights...I am so going to love this room!

In April I will be going to a trade fair in Cologne to meet a distributor for popular US fabric designers. This will be a new experience, but I will go there armed with the advice I got from Little Andalucia.
It's supposed to be huge - I will try not to be overwhelmed by it all!

take care everyone,

Home-cooked meals are the best. They are sure well-prepared and healthy. Good luck on your home transformation activities and your trip to Cologne too. Don't forget to close your eyes, breath, see the sun and smile!

Wishing you more happiness! :)

The home transformations sounds wonderful! I need/want to repaint the sewing room and living room in the hopes that things will be discarded, moved, changed so that the space is more reflective of how we are living now.

I hope you find out something about the fabrics soon. That really sucks.

Have a wonderful time at the fair and rest up!!

You sound like you have a lot on the go! Your garden plans sound wonderful. I cannot wait to get back out into the garden once the weather warms up and the snow melts.

I thought you said you were going to take a break and recover? That sounds like you are going to be just as busy as ever...lol Make sure to get some time in there for yourself to relax a bit too. Maybe when you get that reading room done huh?

You deserve every bit of that rest! Well, if not a rest, then turning to other activities for a while too. It's nice to take breaks from the same thing, no matter what it is. Enjoy your new projects!

You are so brave to consider ordering fabrics whole sale. But...the need is presenting itself. It would be nice to just have the supply and not have to reorder all of the time! I'd LOVE to do that for my yarns. One day, maybe when I get out of the red!

Enjoy your much deserved break! Sounds like it may not be so relaxing, but more of a productive break in other areas of your life other than sewing! I look forward to seeing your new rock garden!
