I mentioned in a previous post that I'd talk about and show you all the beautiful, custom-made ring I was wearing on this day.
But first, let me tell you a little about the artisan behind *Funkelmariechen* . I met Gabriele through my creative community, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn she moved to this little town a few years ago from a big city too :)
In her online shop you will find Swarovski crystals, beads and beading supplies and a limited number of jewelry pieces. However, once these are sold she will only do commissioned work (she has a full-time job, so she's a little short on jewelry-making time).
So we met up in her studio the other day, where I was stunned by the sheer mass of beads and supplies that she owns! She had a little display area on one side of the room - really professional looking I must add - where rings of various shapes, necklaces long and short, bracelets, cuffs and earrings in all colours of the rainbow could be admired. I swear I felt like a kid in a candy store!
Gabriele works mainly with shiny Crystallized Swarovski Elements and semi-precious gems. For the longest time now I have wanted a custom-made ring, and having seen her work I commissioned her to make me one! So, Gabriele hauled out her stash and together we began choosing my preferred colours and design.
And here is the finished ring in shades of fuchsia, accented with deep purple and pink beads and a shiny pink gem adorning the middle...isn't it gorgeous?

To answer your question on my blog, yes, those are Swarovski hearts dangling on my earrings. I love hearts and the color purple so Patch made those for me. Since then, she's made them in lots of colors but I think mine are purrfect!
