After years of non-communication, I received a call from my mil last night. Apparently she needs to 'talk'. Affable person that I am, I agreed. I wonder what we're going to talk about. How she ruined my wedding day? Persisted on invading my privacy? The snide remarks?
In Germany there is a reason why we call a cactus: ' MIL - SEAT'
Okay, got that off my chest. Back to normal mode tomorrow.

I found out the hard way that there is a reason that many jokes exist about MILs. Mine turned from a nice lady to something horrible on the day of my wedding and she proceeded to make the births of my two babies into miserable days.
There are so many things that are hard for us to forgive but I try to ignore her "issues" for my hubby.
I hope the talk goes well and your MIL realizes that she is missing out on knowing a caring and wonderful person.
And I cannot stop laughing about the cactus! I need to call my Mom:)

These are very funny! I have MIL issues too but luckily we have had zero contact with her for about 20 years - our choice as she would love to be able to find us and ask for money! Hope things work out with yours.

it took me a while til I realized what Mil means. Thanks to the other comment-writers who wrote MIL ... I read the comments, I read your text again, I askes leo.org, I looked what google said and then: Mother-in-law!
If she calls to talk and askes you for a "date", maybe she feels sorry for the things she did. Don't be afraid.
