Changes...

My previous post made me reminisce about how my life has completely changed since I moved out to the country. Sure, there are ups and downs everywhere, and I don't really compare the places - they are just different. But one thing that I'm so relieved about, having left the textile industry behind (and don't laugh at this), is that I finally get to choose what I WANT TO WEAR! Throughout my career I had to conform to the fashion dictates of the companies I worked for. This meant a wardrobe full of black basics. I never had any trouble deciding what to wear each workday morning, because I just had to choose between a black pant suit or a black blazer/skirt combination with either white or black blouses or tops underneath. Boooooring. I'm such a colour person and it was getting kind of depressing after a while. These days I wear mostly casual, slightly hippie-inspired clothes, which I occasionally sew myself - like these cream cotton 5-pocket-pants and mille-fleur tunic with cap sleeves. It's so much more me. If my ex-colleagues could see me now!

  2. That is such a cute cute top. I love the sleeves. I know what you mean, wearing office clothes can be boring. But what's worse than office clothes is having to wear corporate uniforms. So basically everyone wears the same thing. All the ladies in the workplace wear the same uniforms, the only thing we have different are our shoes. BORING! And to top it all off, we have six sets of uniforms (Working from monday-saturday, saturday 4 hours work only) ugh! Can you imagine!!! So basically I get to bring out the fashionista in me on sundays. you're so lucky you get to wear what you want to wear.

  4. Your current wardrobe is much better than the stuffy city life wardrobe! I now work from home so love choosing comfy clothes over stuffy business suits that I had to wear at the office. Makes the day so much better!

  5. As an east coast PR person, I have always lived in black. Like your offices, it seems to be the uniform. Now that I work from home, I get to occasionally wear sweat pants. Although I still have the black suits for meetings.

You may miss the suits, but now they are an "option" and not mandatory, it will make wearing them when you do that much more special.

  13. Hi my sweet Duni!
How are you doing? I promise I will post my award that you so sweetly gave me....we had a lot of family come in to San Antonio last week and this week since it's Spring Break here. No School! I have been invaded by the relatives...LOL! We had five families here in town and my sister Cyndi and I split them in half some staying at her house and the other half at my house. The last of the stragglers left about an hour ago and I already miss them...go figure! Oh, and before I forget:
