Sleepless in B-town

My love/hate relationship with the moon. I took this picture yesterday, late afternoon, from my kitchen window. Mesmerizing, isn't it?
As I mentioned in my previous post I had trouble getting some longed for rest last night again. This always happens when there is a full moon! I'm so tired that I'm typing this with my eyes half-closed. Apart from the moon, something else kept me awake....I was hearing these crackling noises, and at about 3:00 a.m. an earsplitting bang that really freaked me out! I jumped out of bed and checked the entire house immediately. I was on my own, since hubby was on nightshift. I thought that maybe a pipe had burst, but then I saw what had happened - one of the windows in the roof had shattered. How could this happen? It's a top-brand double-glazed window pane. They're supposed to last forever... So, in the wee hours of the morning I had to sweep up the shards and also vacuum the floor. There were an amazing amount of glass splinters everywhere. I hope I didn't wake the neighbours. When my hubby came home this morning he secured the window with a sheet of plastic and tape. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the snow doesn't melt or worse, it's going to rain. We will have to wait until Monday to call the repair service, hoping that there's a guarantee on the window. I'm going to put my feet up now and do nothing. Absolutely nothing. Hope everyone else has had a good night's sleep!

  1. Oh my goodness! That would have really freaked me out! I'm glad you were ok and able to clean up the shards. I hope that it stays dry and cold for you until it's repaired!

  2. Oh I feel so bad... But I know how you feel when you are lacking a good night sleep. For 3 nights in a row I averaged only 2 hours sleep a night, the least little noise will wake me up and keep me up...I hope everything works out with the window for you...

  4. Duni, the picture is stunning!

I'm so sorry you are having trouble sleeping. If I see a pillow, I'm out like a light. Lately though, I have been having to get up at four in the morning just so I can put my new hybrid lens on my right eye. I don't go in to work until 7 a.m. and by the time I get home at 3:30 I can barely keep my eyes open. It's been a struggle getting up that early but I have to have that time to fight with that crazy lens!

By the way, I hope your window can get fixed. I would have wet the bed if I had been alone and heard that racket!

    Hugs,
    Deanna :)

  6. What a terrible thing to happen, especially in the middle of the night. I hope you are able to get it replaced under warranty and also that you are able to get some rest today.

  7. I agree with Crystal, I would have had a heart attack then tried to attack what ever had broken the window!
I hope you get rest soon and you have no problems with the weather.

  9. Full moons are so beautiful to look at. I work the night shift, and on Friday night that I worked, the sky was clear with a full moon and stars shining brightly up in the sky. Just an awesome view that night.

Did you find out what broke the window? I hope you'll be able to get some badly needed good night sleep.

    Good night or good day,
    Tasha
